I worked with Tropical Birding to assemble an itinerary for a private tour earlier in 2018. My objective was to see several of the families of birds that can be found in Ecuador, and some of the other beauties like cock-of-the-rock. There were 2 of us, my son-in-law and I. The Tropical Birding people, both office and field, were exceptional. Great communication, flexibility, thoroughness, carefulness (excellent driver, and good judgment in cancelling a part of the trip that had become of safety concern, and arranging a good alternative). Good accommodation selection. Good food provided. Above and beyond helpful. At the very top of my list of tour experiences.

A great tour with a great guide, Scott Olmstead. His knowledge of birds and ability to find them was fantastic. Birders often have interests in other parts of the natural world, and Scott had something to offer in many areas there as well (8 life frogs, woo-hoo!). Best of all, though, was his attitude throughout the trip. He was always patient, quick with a smile or laugh, and generally had exactly the sort of calm personality one wants to be around when going through the early mornings and long, hot days of a tropical excursion.

Outstanding company! We have done a lot of tours with Tropical Birding all around the world, and have always enjoyed each and every one of them. The guides are all "first class" and extremely knowledgeable. Not only that, they are personable and some of them have become great friends over the years. While setting up tours (especially private tours) takes more time than going with "set departures" TB really works hard to make each experience a great one and puts a lot of time into meeting our expectations, because we often have a very limited "hit list." If you've never traveled with TB, give it a try! We think you'll be as pleased with this company as we have been.

I have traveled with Tropical Birding on trips to Ecuador, Brazil, Peru and Mexico. I have always appreciated the leaders' skills in finding and getting participants on the birds. The leaders are also very accommodating to individual needs and very pleasant. Lodging has been very good to excellent except in a few cases where the best that was available was adequate but not great. Food has always been good to excellent. Transportation has usually been good to very good. I would recommend Tropical Birding to anyone who likes to travel and loves birding.

We went on our first trip with Tropical Birding this past January. They did a terrific job from start to finish. Their administrative staff was attentive and addressed all of our concerns. Their field staff are not only expert birders but great companions.

I have experienced several tours with Tropical Birding in many countries with different guides. I have also endured other tours with other companies and guides; thus my opinion has some credibility. Tropical Birding tours are limited to small groups of usually like minded birders. They recognized the different interests in birders and photographers some time ago and changed their tours to meet the needs and desires of both groups. The tours are well planned with contingency plans always in hand for everything from bad weather, road closures, vehicle breakdowns, even dealing with nasty, spoiled, demanding clients. The guides are well trained to problem solve, deal with the above mentioned clients, balance a sense of humor with sensitivity and do their very best to be certain everyone sees the birds they want but also has an enjoyable adventure. The office staff and infrastructure of the organization provides excellent support and resources to accomplish their goals. I already have two more tours booked. I usually travel alone and am a women in my senior years and my husband does not worry about me on these trips even to Mongolia. He has been on a tour and has experienced first hand the excellent capabilities of all involved in their operation. Take a tour, you will love it and want o go somewhere new as soon as you return home!

Every tour (and I have take quite a few) with Tropical Birding has been pretty much perfect - small groups, great tour guides, the best available in transportation, sleeping and eating arrangements, thoughtful site selections, printed bird lists for keeping track of what you have seen, useful and interesting information given on areas visited... - everything you could want in a birding trip.
