Exorbitant price raise
I bought a perpetual licence for Trados Studio years ago, religiously updating it every two years. After the big investment at the start, they made the upgrade every two years affordable. But this year I saw a price raise that made my jaw drop. The upgrade costs around as much as I paid for the very first version! Well, I think I know what happened - they want to "persuade" people to switch to their subscription model. (Only at the moment even the very expensive upgrade to the perpetual licence is still cheaper than two years subscription fees.) So I will wait until the next version comes out in two years. I bet by then the upgrade will cost a lot more than the subscription fees for two years... Then I might reconsider. But for now my response is a resounding "NO" to something that looks a lot like blackmailing loyal customers. My 2024 version will be good for two more years at least.
