Towne MortgageReviews of townemortgage.com

I got this VA loan back when rates were very low, which means that I am, unfortunately, stuck with them until the loan is paid off, I sell the house, or rates end up incredibly low. That said, I've never had a late payment and I've tolerated their absolutely useless web page interface. Trying to retrieve any sort of record or documentation directly from their website is an exercise in futilities. Everything has to be called in during business hours and you have to have the rep order it and send it to you in email or some other medium. Okay, maybe you can email a request in hope that the person on the other end responds in a timely manner and actually understands the problem and provides the requested information. Good luck with that. Unfortunately, the latest insult to the term "customer service" from this company is a breach of trust too far. I have excellent credit. I am thriving despite these times that we live in. I manage my finances and take advantage of smart financial opportunities when they are offered. One of those decisions was to take advantage of the COVID federal mortgage programs that took our tax dollars to subsidize mortgage lenders for pausing or modifying home loan payment terms. I faithfully and responsibly abided by all the terms and conditions. Despite them screwing up at least 2 months of payments and record processing accountability. But, after recently applying for a credit card transfer account, I was informed that there was derogatory information with regards to this loan on my credit report. Making a long story shorter, this company saw fit to add a statement of "Loan Modified" to my account which was being perceived by other creditors as a statement that I was behind on my payments, had debt written off, or was otherwise in financial trouble with regards to my mortgage. After informing the company as to what impact this was having, and then requesting that the notation be removed for elaborated upon i e note that it was a covid federally approved program, I was flat out told that they aren't responsible for how other creditors view their notes. I requwsted that they reconsider based upon the CARES Act guidelines. Again, they doubled down that they didn't make a mistake and it wasn't there problem. This leaves me with no choice but to now file a complained with the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau. But in the meantime, just be aware that this is the type of "customer service" that you'll get with this company. So if you have a competitive rate elsewhere, I strongly suggest you take it.

My loan servicing has been with Towne Mortgage approximately 4 years now. I have only had to call on an issue 2 or 3 times and each time it was handled well. The most complex issue was called because I was able to reduce my insurance, and the insurance company issued a large check to me and the mortgage. I was able to easily work with the employees at Towne mortgage to get a refund of the excess money and have them recalculate my impound account once I could get a statement of the new premium from my insurance company.

I cannot express how frustrated I am with my experience dealing with TOWNE MORTGAGE COMPANY. They have been charging me arbitrary fees without any explanation and completely ignoring my inquiries. I took out a loan with them a while back, and suddenly I started noticing extra charges on my statements, including like double charged monthly payment, late payment fees, additional unknown fees, etc. None of these fees were mentioned in our initial agreement, and when I tried to get answers, I was met with absolute silence from their customer service department and other departments. I've sent multiple emails and made numerous phone calls over three months, but it's like talking to a brick wall. The lack of transparency and the company's refusal to respond to my legitimate concerns is appalling. I strongly advise everyone to stay away from TOWNE MORTGAGE COMPANY. Their business practices are unethical, and they clearly have no regard for their customers' rights or concerns. I am now having no choice to escalate this matter to the Towne Mortgage Company management and regulatory authorities and seek legal remedies to resolve this dispute, and I urge others who have faced similar issues to do the same. Avoid TOWNE MORTGAGE COMPANY at all costs. You deserve a loan company that treats you with respect and transparency, which clearly isn't the case here. Once again, I would like to advise everyone to choose a legitimate, reliable loan company as much as possible! Don’t choose an unscrupulous loan company, otherwise it will definitely leave you with a lot of debt, and you will be unable to get rid of it like being sucked into a black hole……
