The customer service has been good. But the debt negotiating is not. It wasn’t sugar coated for me so I brought it on myself I guess. I’ve been in the program for 4 months & my credit has been shot. I opted out of the program & am handling my 3 debts on my own. It ended up being better for me in the long run. Please talk to your creditors before entering this program. I wish I did, & now I know I can pay off through them with a payoff program of 5 years. All 3 of my creditors had the same program. Don’t ruin your credit!!!

Setting up the account was very smooth. Unfortunately, the followup communication after the account was established and creditors were being paid was very poor. I couldn't get anyone to return my calls when I would leave a voice message for updates on my account. I attempted to pay off the entire account 10 months early and found this to be extremely difficult to do. I deposited the entire amount into my timberline account and was told all creditors were paid off. 2 months later there was a $1000 withdrawl from my checking account, only to discover I still had a creditor that needed paying off. It's almost as if timberline did not want me to pay off my account early so they misinformed me repeatedly. Unfortunately, I would NOT RECOMMEND this company for anyone doing debt consolidation.

Your Customer Service Representatives have conveyed my request to speak with our Settlement Officer about my outstanding accounts, and ultimately his Supervisor. Over a FIVE-week period I was told that they were going to contact me within 3 days. In the last 5 weeks, no one returned my call or contacted me. This coming Wednesday (12/11/2019), will mark 6 weeks that I have been promised a return call. I am disappointed, and extremely upset and frustrated. Thus far you have let me down, and the next step I will take will be the last attempt to communicate with you.

After 2 months I decided to pull out of the program due to the painfully slow pace of their process. Once I informed them of this they are contractually bound to returning my money being held in my account within 7 days of their receipt of my termination email. "without any termination fee or other penalty, by providing us with written notice of termination (which may be electronic). Upon any termination of this Agreement, you will receive all funds in your Settlement Account, other than those that have been earned by TL as of the date of termination within seven (7) business days of our receipt of your written request". I sent an email stating so on Nov 20th and received a response later that day and yet no funds have been returned. If you and your credit score can take a beating for 4 years then go this route otherwise search Google and do it yourself. There may be a lot of work involved but the results are far quicker than hiring others to do you bidding. Is Timberline Financial a scam? I don't think so, but they charge a whole lot for their service and in the end you still have to go out and pay to have your credit fixed. Update: Still in violation of their contract; the one that they drafted. How can you trust a company that cannot honer their own agreement. Final Update 12/17/19: I called TImberline to find out where the money was and they apparently dropped the ball. The lady I spoke to said it should have been processed through weeks ago but something happened to the "paperwork". She said she would expedite the refund and I received it this morning. I wish I could remember her name because she deserves 5 stars but Timberline will only get 2 stars. So much for the person who initially responded to this review and said they would look into it. That never happened or they would have caught the error sooner. Bye Bye Timberline.

The customer service representatives have always been very polite, kind, and understanding. I was disappointed, however, when a recent adjustment that I requested was agreed to, but not implemented. That left me with a negative account balance in my checking account, as well as an overdraft fee. Getting that error corrected has been an inconvenience on my part.

I just feel like nothing has really been done to pay off my depts..... I am frustrated, that I am having so many bad experiences. Not sure I did the right thint going through a "Bill Cons". My credit is not good and I could at least been paying monthly on my bills so I would not be getting letters and phone calls from debt collections. All I wanted was help getting my bills down. When I talk with someone over the phone, they treat me good, but I do not feel that I have been taken care of by the company.

The first year of the program was great and I was extremely confident that I had made the right decision. As I roll into the second year my experience has become more frustrating. To make a long story short, one of my accounts is now suing me due to not paying the debt. This was the second largest account enrolled in the program. My frustration lies in the fact that multiple different people at Timberline said that this would be the creditor that they would target first because they were generally the most aggressive. This did not happen, though they did reach a settlement with another enrolled account which actually had a larger balance. Now the settlement being offered from the account that is suing me is not affordable and will pretty much destroy any savings I would have gotten from this program. At this point I should have just kept struggling to make my payments. Right now all I have done is destroy my credit. If I had this to do over again I would have done more research and tried to figure something else out. Hopefully things will turn around because at this point I don't really have another option. There are other reasons I am frustrated with this program, but don't want this to get ridiculously long. I have brought these frustrations up with different reps, but I don't really get much more then "I'm sorry" and nothing resembling an explanation that makes sense. Now I am worried that my wages will end up being garnished which would jeopardize my ability to make the program drafts. My advice is to do more research on these types of programs before committing. I thought I did enough, but it seems now that is not the case.

Have been trying to add additional accounts to my program for three months and they still have not been added. Always some excuse or run around why. Very disappointed.
