Great experience, and also a great financial help.
I'm an expat with a reasonably complicated tax situation -- not so wealthy, but with the assets I have spread out over two countries in several ways. For years, I was using a US-based CPA, but I was uncomfortable that they really understood expat issues, and worried about whether I was filing correctly. I then tried big cookie-cutter expat services, where you could only interact via uploading forms and getting various automated messages. I quickly saw that I'd get nowhere with this. I worked with Stephen Boush at tietax and it was so different. First, I could actually interact with a human being and explain things that did not boil down to uploading numbers -- and his response time was generally instantaneous. Second, instead of just asking me for various documents and spitting out a submission to sign, he took the time to listen to me and explain a few options -- which not only helped in the final outcome, but made me understand better how it all works. Finally, in the end he helped me to file in a way that was honest, legal, but also (it seems to me) fairer.And unlike other firms, he was also transparent about their fees -- that is, no "surprise extras". Overall, I am deeply grateful to Stephen, and could not recommend more highly!
