The Plaza Hotel Blanchardstowncentre
The Plaza Hotel bar restaurant. I ordered the Happy Pear Beetroot Burger from the menu. The menu stated,” walnut, beetroot, vegan bun, butter lettuce, tomato, relish, twice cooked chips.” I received 2 small leaves of salad. One side of the bun had a dollop of relish (I think). One slice of tomato about the size of the bread and chips in a small metal container. Cost 21 euro. When I asked the young server about the Walnut in the menu, the waitress went to check. She then told me the chef said the ‘walnut’ was walnut ‘dust’ which apparently was in the relish. The menu stated ‘walnut’ not walnut ‘dust’. I’ve never seen this on a menu before. Is this acceptable- to serve ‘dust’ as a walnut?? Nobody from the kitchen came to explain. No manager came to explain or apologise. The server was young and possibly inexperienced. I let the matter drop as I was with friends and didn’t want to get into a discussion about walnut ‘dust’. Very bad value for money. Very badly described item on the menu. I will scrutinise the menu more closely in future. If there is a future!
