A Global Monopoly: Standardization, Zero Meritocracy, and Non-Existent Support
Being part of The Knot Worldwide network is no longer a choice for wedding vendors; it is a forced necessity. By acquiring the main local portals across the globe, they have established an absolute monopoly. The most damaging result of this expansion is the complete standardization of the wedding industry. Weddings are deeply rooted in unique local customs, cultures, and traditions. Things worked significantly better when each country had its own independent platform tailored to its specific market. Now, everything is forced into a flat, one-size-fits-all corporate template. Beyond the loss of local identity, the platform operates with zero meritocracy. The quality of a professional's work is irrelevant; visibility is dictated exclusively by who pays the highest subscription fee. Even when paying for the highest available premium package, the post-sale treatment is severely disappointing. During onboarding or contract renewal, their sales team is incredibly helpful and responsive. However, the moment your invoice is paid, you become just another number. Any request for support or troubleshooting is met with inert, automated, and pre-packaged responses. It strongly feels like the system baits new vendors with initial visibility, only to decrease performance over the years while constantly raising prices. Furthermore, their technical supervision is slipping. Recently, I have received blatant spam inquiries that easily bypassed their system filters, proving a lack of basic platform maintenance. TKWW is currently a necessary tool only because they have bought out all the competition, but it is managed with the arrogance of a monopoly that treats professionals merely as revenue quotas to be collected.
