We haven't even gotten to the dinner and I'm disappointed. They cancelled the April 11 show, told us we could reschedule to another show or venue then proceed to charge us another $40 rescheduling fee for THEIR CANCELLATION! I'm thinking this is a giant rip-off. I'm completely dissatisfied if this is normal business practice.

Wasn’t very interesting. Got bored

I booked tickets for the dinner detective expecting a fun and interactive night out. Especially after reading so many positive reviews. Unfortunately my experience was the complete opposite. From the moment we arrived things felt unorganized. Check in was really slow and a bit confusing and we were not given clear instructions about how the interactive portion would work. We ended up just sitting there unsure of what was going on for the first time of evening. The dinner it self was disappointing the food was served lukewarm and tasted very average nothing memorable at all . Considering the ticket prices I honestly expected better quality and presentation. It felt like a basic banquet meal of a special events. Over all it did not feel the worth of money or the time , I really wanted to enjoy the experience but I left feeling very disappointed.

The seating arrangement was confusing, and we weren’t clearly guided on how the interactive part was supposed to work. The dinner was underwhelming. The food was served lukewarm and didn’t have much flavor. For the price of the ticket, I expected something much better in terms of both quality and portion size. The bar service before the show was slow and crowded, which set a frustrating tone for the evening. As for the show itself, it just didn’t feel engaging. The storyline was difficult to follow at times, and the audience interaction felt awkward rather than fun. There were long stretches where not much was happening, and the pacing made the night drag on.Overall, it didn’t feel worth the money. I went in expecting an entertaining and immersive experience, but left feeling disappointed and underwhelmed.

It was lame food was horrible the show was boring

I would give them zero stars if there was an option. I have tickets for tonight. My girlfriend got sick last night and got progressively worse through the morning hours. I contacted them early this morning and explained the situation. I am not looking for a refund but looking to reschedule for another date. There is currently a waitlist list for tonight and they are giving me no option but forfeiting my tickets with no refund. They do not have a phone number to speak to a representative, just an email that lacks proper communication. Do yourself a favor and avoid this experience. There are plenty of other murder/mystery events that would be much more understanding and accommodating.

I purchased DD tickets for my sister and I for Saturday night Jan 24, 2026. I live in TN and drove to Birmingham for the show. A massive winter storm is coming as everyone in the nation knows. If I do not head home and secure my home and animals I would be stuck in AL for 4/5 days. I called to change the date for my tickets and NOPE,NO CAN DO, TO BAD was the response I got. Bad business attitude from DD. I did not ask for a refund just to change the date for my tickets. Think twice before committing to DD, you are sol if something changes.

I scheduled a dinner for my husband and I, for his birthday, more than two months in advance. I paid the extra $25 for him to be a "suspect" during the show. I arranged childcare for our three children and invited two family members to attend (they bought their tickets separately and also had to arrange childcare). Emails from Dinner Detective told us to arrive @5:45pm. The day of the show, 45 minutes before guests were expected to arrive, I received a text and an email stating the show had been canceled. We were already heading towards the venue, and paid the sitters. Yes, Dinner Detective refunded our tickets, however the entire evening was ruined since it was a birthday present and expensive childcare had already been arranged. It was VERY short notice for the cancelation.
