The TCU Nightmare - Never Again
PLEASE READ
I contacted TCU in January 2026 to design a website for a new business. I worked with the TCU team, explained the design and functionality requirements, and within three weeks they delivered a great-looking website.
During our discussions, I mentioned that I planned to use NameCheap for domain registration and hosting. The TCU team told me they could handle both instead. Although their monthly rate was significantly higher than NameCheap’s, I was promised direct customer support for any future issues or changes, along with five email addresses. Before agreeing, I made it very clear that the domain name had to be registered in my name and gave explicit instructions. I was assured there would be no problem. Since the website development process had gone smoothly, I agreed.
A few weeks after the domain was registered and the site went live in mid-February 2025, the problems began. My tech support provider was unable to properly connect our M365 setup with the email accounts because they needed cPanel access. TCU refused to provide direct cPanel access, making it very difficult to get my business up and running. After numerous calls and emails with the TCU team, I learned in early March 2025 that my domain was not only registered with a company abroad, but it also was not even registered in my name! Instead, it was registered to someone random guy I had never heard of. On top of that, the website was hosted through another shady company. To say my heart sank would be an understatement… The domain for my business was not registered to me and thus legally not under my control. The stuff of nightmares.
After escalating the issue,I was referred to a TCU manager who did little to resolve the situation. She was evasive, unhelpful, and clearly not technically proficient. She assured me the issue would be fixed, yet nothing changed. After several more frustrating calls and emails, the domain was suddenly transferred to me (thank god) yet hosted without any input from me with a technically limited provider that was not TCU. The provider's admin panel was super outdated and very wonky, and my tech team still could not access cPanel to properly configure M365 and other email-connected services.
Given the provider's limitations, I demanded that the domain be transferred to NameCheap asap, but by that point the ICANN 60-day transfer lock had been triggered due to the registrant change. That meant I was effectively trapped in this nightmare until mid-April. After even more calls and emails, I was finally granted—and very begrudgingly—cPanel access sometime in late March.
I cannot begin to describe the amount of time, stress, and expense this situation caused. What started as a smooth website project turned into an exhausting nightmare. I literally counted the days until I could transfer my domain away from TCU and put this company behind me forever.
NEVER AGAIN.

SCAM
SCAM! This is a scam website. They will direct you to a number after payment, you’ll call it and it will be a random person not associated with any company.
Adding to this: they finally did refund me. And then texted me for weeks harassing me to remove my review. A customer has the right to leave a review. As of today, 3 weeks later I am still receiving these texts.
Response from The Creative UnitAug 3, 2026
We’re sorry to hear about your concerns. We did process a full refund for your order and made every effort to address the situation.
We respect every client's right to share their honest feedback. However, we do not support or encourage any form of review removal in exchange for compensation. Our goal is always to resolve customer concerns fairly and improve our service based on genuine feedback.
We appreciate your comments and will continue working to provide a better experience for all clients.
