The only reason I decided to open an account with this bank is because they advertised the best rate for a high yield savings account - that was in Texas with a walk in branch. I deposit a check for over $5000 on February 3rd, 2026. Even though the check cleared in under 3 days this bank held my funds for nearly 2 weeks. I requested a debit card thinking I would be able to use it for any purchase or transaction. I tried to use the debit card at a store and the transaction was denied. I logged on and asked customer service why. They claimed it was because the DEBIT card was attached to a "savings" account and I would have to open an additional checking acct. That was wrong. If anything the transaction should have asked me for my pin number for it to be used as a trued debit card. Then on March 10, 2026 I added an external account and tried to transfer $245. I received a voice mail from the bank saying they needed to "verify" the transfer. I logged on and sent a message letting them know since I had made the request while I was logged in clearly it was verified. The next day my account was in "restricted" status. I was unable to use the account. After complaining multiple times on-line I finally drove (20 miles) to this branch in plano tx on March 19th to show my id and get my cash. The bank teller said because the acct was "restricted" she could not see the account or give me MY cash. That is absurd! She claimed the only way to get the acct un-restricted was to EMAIL the back office - supposedly couldnt call..... The "back office" sent an email to the "fraud" team and said basically they are still "working on it" - nearly 2 weeks later?.... And they would get back to me.... This is absolutely unacceptable. I was testing this bank out to see IF I wanted to move thousands of dollars over to them. At this point I have little trust to deposit MY cash with them when they can just decide to hold it hostage at any point in time - for no good reason!

Their top tier interest online savings is fantastic. They are at the same rate as the massive corporate online banks, but offer the Texas touch. The few times I needed customer service, they were there immediately. It’s nice to support a Texas based bank and help support our own economy instead of appeasing Wall Street shareholders!
