After seeing the one @ Excell London, and thought of staying there at some point ,my partner decided to take us to Gibraltar ,and surprised me with this one Today being the first day The outside looks amazing , the reception area looks good At checking in we was informed our room will face opposite the building basically Not a great view but, if we pay £30 a day more we will get a bigger room, better views, and a balcony! Ok went for it TBH. Not five star, bit dated. The room yes over looks the marina but, nothing amazing! The room it's self. No usb changing points next to the bed. Bed low ,seems the mattresses has had a lot of use. The shower door chrome rusty, Went to put the dressing gown on ,one of the loops has been ripped off therefore a hole also a stain on it ..Lack of attention to detail especially when they have hung the dressing grown up neatly! These might be little things but, add up. The ceiling above the bed. Dirty marks. Looks like someone shooked a bottle of cola ,and some went on the ceiling The chrome edging strip around the ceiling got rusty spots. So when laying in bed look up it looks at you. Yes not a great feeling for a company that states luxury! Great selling the so called upgraded room but, not great to experience it. Hate to think what the other rooms facing the buildings look like. Let's see how the rest of the days go

Stayed here a few time but this time I book the valentine special well it was far from special the room was freezing cold so they gave us a oil filled heater only trouble was tje air con which was stuck on was far greater when I told they we are very busy what you want us to do they offer a cheaper room tho but as we paid extra said no any way they found one in the end the biggest problem was a members of staff kept asking me to pay for afternoon tea which I said charge it to my room you have my card details but still they ask day after day and we had not even had it yet and after all that the cream tea was the worse ever and I told them so but they didn’t seem to care at all if we had been in uk I would of refused to pay overall this trip has put me off staying there just got feeling most didn’t care even after a manager came and he just ok will take on board thanks not what I expected after visits before maybe it’s changed hand

The hotel rooms are outstanding but the service and the food are appalling. I had a seafood platter that was totally drowned in tomato sauce so I couldn't taste any of the seafood. There were nearly as many staff as customers and they were useless and you had to call them over. My husband ordered a pint of lager and because the barrel had gone, they served him about three quarters of a pint. Someone needs to train the staff
