Catastrophic fabric failure after seven months of use.
Stout markets its tents as rugged, durable, four-season products backed by a lifetime warranty. That's why I purchased a PRO Series tent. Now I feel completely duped. My friend's Stout PRO Series tent suffered a catastrophic fabric failure after just seven months of actual use. Stout refused warranty coverage, blaming improper guying and the lack of a sunshade, despite photographs showing proper guy line installation. Dig into Stout's website and the marketing claims begin to unravel. Their warranty excludes tents left standing more than 21 consecutive days, and they actually warn that customers in Colorado and other sunny states should expect only ONE season from unshaded canvas in long-term installations. I've also struggled to find legitimate public review channels for Stout. No accessible Google reviews, no ability to make Facebook recommendations, inconsistent business addresses. None of this inspires confidence. A company that builds its brand around strength and durability, then disclaims responsibility when its products fail under ordinary outdoor use, is one to avoid.
