Stillwater by Name, Still Water by Service
The name “Stillwater” is incredibly fitting, because when it comes to their claims department, literally nothing moves. I filed a water damage claim on August 30. About a week later, a third-party adjuster inspected the damage and submitted his assessment to Stillwater. That’s where everything started going downhill. Since then, communication has been terrible. The claims adjuster is pleasant on the phone, but calls are often not returned, or I get a callback at the very end of the day when there is little time to actually resolve anything. They repeatedly ask customers to email information and requests, yet my emails have gone unanswered. I am still waiting for a rental reimbursement that was verbally approved, with no clear timeline for payment. I also requested copies of my claim documents so I could provide them to the master insurance carrier, and even that request has gone nowhere. So yes, the name “Stillwater” is very appropriate — everything is still, and nothing moves. If you are already stuck in a claim with them, you have my sympathies. If you are considering Stillwater, I would strongly recommend looking at other insurance companies with better communication and claims handling.
