South America Travel and Tom Maker created a superb 21/2 week trip to Peru and the Amazon for myself and my two adult kids. I travel extensively and consider this trip to be the best I have ever taken. It was quite complex and involved five local tour companies. Every detail was perfect and an amazing schedule was met to the minute. Even when a strike/protest impacted us the problems were quickly resolved. I expected some difficulty in executing the schedule, but we proceeded with out a hitch. This company and Tom Maker are truly amazing. I recommend them unequivocally.

Great very efficient on every detail

Izabela has answered every question that I have had. I have traveled all over the world and know what can go wrong. I have quizzed her about those areas that I think could be an issue when traveling to a remote island. Her answers are quick and to the point and have resulted in me booking this trip.

We were very impressed with the knowledge of our agent and the fact that he provided almost immediate responses to our e-mail messages. He developed a recommended itinerary with all of our must-see locations very quickly. Also, we agreed entirely with all of the recommended hotels. Well done, Martin!

This rating is for my trip planning experience. Tom, and his fill-in Marty while Tom was on vacation, have both been terrific - extremely helpful and responsive. My trip planning had many twists and turns, including major itinerary changes and even a possible last-minute cancellation. All of the planning has been uncomfortably close to the travel dates for unavoidable reasons, which made the planning very stressful. Tom responded promptly and helpfully to all of my questions and changes, and made good itinerary suggestions when I needed them. I was considering several different travel agencies, and S. America Travel won my business because of their responsiveness - they had provide me with very complete information by the time I had to finally make a decision, without being pushy, and at a decent price point, and were unfailingly flexible and helpful throughout the process (including extending their cancellation policy when I had a last-minute crisis - thankfully avoided now I hope!). There are higher-end travel companies who recommend fancier accommodations, but S. America Travel's recommended accommodations were similar to other recommended agencies, and they were able and willing to substitute slightly higher-end accommodations when I asked for them, without breaking the bank. I'll try to write another review after the trip - but at this point, I couldn't ask for more responsiveness or better support.

So America Travel setup my whole family trip to Machu Picchu/Peru & Rio De Janeiro/Brazil. We only had a 2 week window but Rebecca included all the activities and special events we wanted to do and see with great service and assistance. All guides & drivers were very knowledgeable and provided great suggestions during our travel. Hotels were great & conveniently located in each city. Highly recommend The Lima Gourmet Tour where we got to try various fruits, mix/drink Pisco Sours, make ceviche, & have lunch at the Restaurant Huaca Pucllana in the Pre-Inca ruins in Miraflores. If you do the morning tour, suggest you eat a light breakfast because we were so full. The Circuito Magico Del Agua show is in downtown Lima and really amazing to see at night. Of course, Machu Picchu was Spectacular! We should have stayed in Cuzco 2 days before going to Machu Picchu to acclimate to the altitude since we added the hike to Machu Picchu Mtn which is close to the same elevation as Cuzco. I didn't make it to the top due to difficulty breathing. Rio was fabulous and fun. Wish we had more days to explore, but hanging out at the Coco Verde cafe on Copacabana watching beach soccer & soccer VB was amazing! Saw all the wonderful Rio sights and SAT was able to get us into a Soccer game at the Maracanã stadium which was a huge highlight for my grandkids. Highly recommend our Rio tour guide, Renato Costa. He was great fun and made sure we got the great family pictures from all the fabulous sites and views. Glad we were with him at the Maracanã so we had his guidance in where to go and what to do. Of course, we had to cheer for his Fluminense FC team who was playing against the larger fan base for the Flamengo FC team. At the last minute Flamengo tied the game @ 2-2, so no bragging rights for Renato. It was a very memorable & well planned trip by Rebecca. Thank you!!!

Tye is truly excellent in his knowledge, his quick understanding of our travel wants and needs and application of that understanding when planning our itinerary. Remarkable! We will ask for him for all future travel in South America.

Great! Thanks to SouthAmerica.travel, I'll be there in few months... I just came across SouthAmerica.travel when I was searching on Internet how to plan a trip to Peru, Chile and Argentina :) After 1-2 communications I decided to let them assist me in planning my trip...
