Sleep n-Fly Barcelona
Sleep n-Fly Barcelona The best thing about this hotel is its proximity to the Airport. After that things go down hill. The hotel has no restaurant, At the desk we were told we could eat at any Café in the airport. After a full day in the city we wanted to sit down for a relaxing enjoyable meal, with local cuisine. Finding a decent meal in a sprawling concourse, flooded with travellers, noise, and discomfort we certainly didn't achieve this. The bedroom was a generous size for a City hotel. However, the bathroom its self was an open space with frosted glass doors on the shower cubicle and the toilet. A modicum of privacy. However, the toilet door would not stay shut. (not just ours) You had to keep your foot against it. The shower was sizeable. Sadly everything comes with a BUT. The frosted door sealed well, and stayed shut. But the tiles on the base had been laid so that the water from the shower drained directly into the open bathroom. It took 2 bath towels to absorb the puddle. The bed. Again a good size. BUT comfortable it wasn't. I didn't know beds could be made so hard. I camp regularly but said at the time "i have slept in more comfortable fields" It didn't even give when you sat on it. We tried to sleep on the duvet instead of under it for comfort, except the room was too cold and changing the setting on the air-con lasted about 2 seconds as it returned to a pre-set heat. At one point i was wearing a full winter jumper to keep warm—and comfortable! There was a floor to ceiling window at the end of the room. An electric blackout blind dropped to the floor. BUT around the blind was a 10 cm gap on both sides floor to ceiling. Directly outside was the floodlit 24-hour taxi rank. You couldn't hear it, but the room was almost in daylight. When you are awake, cold, uncomfortable, and it doesn't feel like night, it's a very long night. Breakfast is served from 4.30am to 10.00am. We were there for 9.00am. Not sure where the food is produced, but there is no staff visible, just self-service. We were told that the breakfast suits all world travellers. Much of the provisions were in short supply or gone. The coffee machine was blinking that the milk dispenser needed deep cleaning. Plates of fruit were almost if not completely empty. A lady came to clear some plates, so we asked if the fruit was finished. We got a gruff Yes, but then seeing our faces said she would cut some more. For the full English breakfast there were no eggs, originally a small amount of bacon and no sausages. That was the full choice. A few sausages arrived a little later. Conversation with our table neighbours from New Zealand at breakfast confirmed we were not alone with our dissatisfaction. They had the exact concerns. This is not a cheap hotel. The website shows video that doesn't depict the bedrooms or bathroom accurately. I described it as a deluxe prison cell! This would have been a 1-star review, So glad it was just 1 night. In its favour were the cleanliness and its proximity to the airport. So if you can sleep on the floor with the light on in comfort - this is the place for you! Good Luck
