I used Shemmassian Academic Consulting's interview service. The academic consultant I worked with was super nice and gave me really helpful feedback. A lot of the questions she used also appeared in my actual medical school interviews! I learned a lot and would definitely recommend this company to other students.

Medical school applications include a lot of subjective elements that are difficult to navigate if you don’t have admissions experience. Throughout the process of writing primaries, secondaries, and interviewing, it’s a guarantee that you’ll have questions or miss an opportunity to put your best foot forward. Because of these concerns, I worked with Shemassian Academic Consulting and my advisor Michael gave me timely advice and edits on these difficult elements of my application. In addition, Michael gave me a place to vent about this grueling process which helped me keep a level-head and perform my best. I can’t recommend SAC enough for applicants like myself.

When it was time to craft my medical school application I started from nothing. I had no idea what my personal statement should be about, what activities I should include, which ones to make the most meaningful, or even what schools to apply to. Shemmassian Academic Consulting helped me build a foundation and create an application that told my story in a way I never knew I could. I think that is what I have to emphasize about this service. It is the fact that I am an average applicant so why did I receive 7 interview invites this cycle (5 DOs and 2MDs) and 2 acceptances (so far). It is because I told Dr. Balaji the story I wanted to express and he helped polish my application so I could tell it in the best way possible, because Dr. Cohen helped me with my interview skills and gave me the confidence to enter each interview a hundred times better than the previous one, and because both of them were honest and supported me throughout the cycle. I won't lie and say that this wasn't a huge financial commitment for me personally, but to say it was worth every penny has to be the biggest understatement of this still very new year.

The medical school admissions process is daunting, confusing, and tough - even more so if you don't know anyone who went through the process or lack individualized support from premed advisors. Also, considering ~60% of students get rejected each cycle as well as the sheer sum of money required to apply, most of us understand the stakes of applying in any given cycle. Keeping the stakes in mind, I was admittedly scared of the process and did not know who to turn to for guidance and information. After my first free consultation with Dr. Shemmassian, I was impressed because he had taken the time to answer every single question I had. Despite this, I was still hesitant on seeking the services of academic consulting. However, as I took my time to decide, I noticed right away that compared to other consulting companies, Shemmassian did not pressure me in any way to seek services. In fact, they were the opposite and went out their way to answer all the questions I had. After some thought and research, I decided that it was worth it to invest in services right now rather than potentially getting rejected and spending thousands of dollars reapplying. It was one of the best decisions I ever made. I was supported by Dr. Shemmassian and two academic consultants who gave me their personal phone numbers and email so I could contact them with ease. They were super responsive and really wanted me to showcase my best self in my application. There were times when I was overwhelmed and confused, and they took the time to talk with me on the phone and answer all my questions and give me advice. They really de-mystified the whole process and helped me feel confident every step of the way from submitting my primary application (with no MCAT at the time) all the way to my interviews. At the end, I was accepted to BOTH of my top-choice MD programs!! Even after my acceptances, they were still available to answer my questions and talk with me. I highly recommend this service because if you are applying, you want to ideally apply once and highlight your best self throughout the process so you can reach your full potential. They truly help you do that!! Go for it if you can!
