Sail In GreeceReviews of sail-ingreece.com

We booked this cruise based on the amazing reviews on Tripadvisor and the wonderful photos on Sail in Greece's website and social media sites. However, it is evident since our trip that these reviews are all based on which boat you sail on. We were on the Atlantis. Whilst we cannot fault the beautiful swim stops, the amazing ports we overnighted at and the fantastic food produced by the wonderful Moussa it was all spoiled by the awful conditions in our cabin. We knew the cabins were basic and had no issue with that - but our cabin (no. 8) was in the rear of the boat and right near the engine room. In every port where the electric was either not available or not sufficient to power the air conditioning the engines were run all night to supplement the power. The noise in our cabin was unbearable, this coupled with the fact that we paid an extra 150 euros for air conditioning in our cabin from midnight to 8am - and that in itself was incredibly noisy, meant we actually only spent 1 night in our cabin. We both always sleep with earplugs but that did nothing to dull the noise. The only night we slept the whole night in the cabin was a night where it was cooler and the engines weren't running so we were able to open the portholes and let a cooling breeze in without enduring any engine or a/c noise. The other issue in our cabin was the fumes - we were advised to keep the portholes shut when the engines were running, which we did but the fumes seemed to be coming from under the floor - making the whole experience unbearable - hence the fact we either slept on the outside deck or paid for accommodation off the boat for 2 nights. Thankfully our fellow shipmates were a lovely bunch of people from all over the world and we all got on very well and made the most of it. Unfortunately the night it rained at least 5 of the 10 cabins suffered from water ingress which resulted in wet bedding - as did ours on the last night - thankfully though we'd already booked alternative lodgings in Corfu town so it didn't make any difference to us. All in all we definitely believe your experience will depend on which boat you are on - without doubt the Atlantis needs a lot of TLC to get it up to a standard where you are guaranteed a dry night in a relatively peaceful cabin. To be fair we did receive some recompense from Sail in Greece in response to our complaints and this went some way towards the inconvenience we had booking separate accommodation etc.

Having recently returned from a sailing holiday on the Harmonia with Sail with Greece, unfortunately, due to a combination of bad weather, bad communication and organising from the company and a very unfriendly captain, the trip turned out to be a bit of a disaster. On the afternoon of Saturday 12th September 2026, we were informed by their Customer Support team that we would be unable to sail as planned on the morning of Sunday 13th Sept due to adverse weather conditions. As you can imagine we were disappointed to hear this news but continued to board the boat on the Saturday as instructed. We were told by the captain at this point that in fact it would probably be Tuesday or Wednesday before we would sail as the weather conditions at sea were not good for several days. At this point, we were asked by the captain to hand over the 300 euros port fees. We also paid extra monies when booking our holiday for a standard plus cabin which we were told were the bigger cabins on the boat. This was not true as in fact we had one of the smallest cabins (Cabin 3). If the captain knew we were not going anywhere until the Tuesday/Wednesday, why did the company still put us on the boat? We would have been better off kept in a hotel as the boat was moored next to an area that had a lot of building work going on, which was noisy, dusty, and not great to look at! The captain of the boat had absolutely no people skills! He was abrupt, grumpy and had very little interaction with us for the entire holiday. He didn’t join us for the Captain’s dinner except for a photo and did not even come on deck to say goodbye as we left the boat on the Saturday morning. The rest of the crew were very friendly, especially Farris. Why did we still have to pay 300 euros port fees when we only had a 3 day cruise. The captain couldn’t collect these quick enough! The swim stops on the 3 day cruise were terrible. We were too far away from shore, the sea was choppy, the stairs leading into the water were not suitable for most of the guests onboard, and the snorkelling equipment provided had not been cleaned in weeks! All in all, the entire experience was very disappointing and although there is absolutely nothing that can be done in regard to the weather conditions, I feel that the company should have pre-empted and had a contingency plan for such occurrences. Communication and lack of organisation from the company was evident. All in all a very bad experience with Sail in Greece
