This is a follow up to my Jun 30, 2025 review. Still rate River.com 4 stars; however, the more I use it the more I like it. For the first five days, I was only able to ACH transfer in $2000 over a (I assume) 5-7 day period. Contacted River and they quickly increased it to $25K. Now, have two reoccurring buys set up (weekly and 1st/15th). After the first week, there are no fees...only the 0.25% spread. River can be one of the least expensive to buy Bitcoin. The security seems excellent.

River Financial (Bitcoin Exchange) rejects registration without giving reason
When I tried to set up an account at River, I entered my name, email, newly created password, phone, address, and SSN (and receiving verification code in a text on the phone and a confirmation email), then clicked "Continue". It presented me with a page saying only "Account Not Created - Based on the information you provided, an account with River is not able to be created at this time. No further action is needed."
No marked errors on any input fields, no instruction that I could wait 2 hours and try again, no email explaining anything.
When I emailed support, they did not reply. When I emailed them from a different email address than the one I used to register, they finally said "Regretfully, we have determined to discontinue this business relationship. Your account has been closed. An account may be closed for a number of reasons. These reasons include, but are not limited to: being unable to verify Client information; unusual activity associated with the account; violation of Terms of Service; or ineligible for a River account. No further action is needed on your end. I apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused."
I have an almost perfect credit score. Not wanted by the FBI (that I know of). There's nothing about me that should present the slightest suspicion. And for the possible reasons listed in that email, I don't see how any of them are possible: All I did was enter my name, email, address, phone, and SSN. What terms could I have violated? What "unusual activity" could I have engaged in? If I was ineligible, why not say WHY? If they were unable to verify information, it seems like the better thing to do would be to inform me of the problem.
Admittedly the inconvenience didn't cost me anything, but for a company with the reputation as the "good guys" it's a jarring experience. NOW that I know they engage in this kind of behavior I would never trust them anyway. I just want to warn others.
