This is supposed to be a knitting site - you know where you can buy patterns and get knitting help. Why are they turning it into a political site such as today where we are supposed to support protests that are just plain old excuses now for looting?

As a web designer and knitter, I thought I'd try out Ravelry. It does not look good on tablets probably because their code is 15 years old. All the buttons are too small and they obviously don't follow the web accessibility guidelines for websites. When searching for patterns, there is often too many patterns to wade through, or patterns that blatantly copy other designers like Drops. As this website hasn't been updated from 2005, I deleted my account as this site is vulnerable to hacking and I don't trust it for buying patterns. In those days, web developers used md5 for encryption which can now be broken in 5 minutes. This site needs a complete rewrite and a database tidy up (removing duplicate entries for yarn etc). I won't be using it again until they upgrade it to 2020 standards.

The site is out dated, clunky, and a strain on your eyes. The CEO is a hate monger who bans anyone that disagrees with him and claims it is an inclusive space. He spearheaded a witchhunt against designers, dyers, and indie artists who held different positions than his own. He is anti-American, banning anyone in support of the office of the president.

This is an appalling site. They called all Trump/Trump administration supporters "white supremacists" and banned any and all Republicans/Conservatives - censored ANY expression of support from their forums, but then said they are "Inclusive of all". Inclusive??? Only if you're a Democrat, a member of an LGBTQ+ group, pro choice or anything resembling a Leftist. SHAMEFUL! Do they not see the irony of this? They also took their new banning policy off of an online Role Playing Game site. 'Nuff said.

I’ve just been disgusted by a once loved website, judged on my opinion because it doesn’t coincide with the owners opinion! They support hate as long as it’s directed to who they want it to be directed toward. I’ve seen plenty of hate over the years, and I chose to ignore it, guess the lily white snowflakes cannot do the same so they ban others opinions. Great job! Once I print all my purchased patterns, I will be leaving Ravelry. So annoying a bunch of fruit loops have to take a great fiber loving community and ruin it by political bans. BAN ALL OR NONE! Hatred is hatred!

Early in the summer of 2019 they made a move that forbid supporters of President Trump to speak of their support, share patterns (which I would never use but each to their own) and be part of things. They uniformly referred to all supporters of our president as white supremacists. Their anger and one-sided view forced many people to stand tall and remove themselves. There were conflicts on their site between party lines (that shouldn't have happened and what the heck does that have to do with crafts?) but not everyone was involved and good people were stereotyped. My position is that a site like that should forbid all political discussion or forbid none. How hard would that have been? People have left in large numbers and continue to leave. You can't alienate roughly half your business and be considered a good place to be. Not recommended as they are bitter angry people focused on their own agenda, which seems to have little to do with yarn anymore. Very sad to see them go downhill. It used to be a great place, now I am using alternative web sites.
