I would strongly caution anyone…
I would strongly caution anyone considering doing business with Prosperity Life to carefully research this company and read customer reviews before making a decision. My experience with Prosperity Life has been nothing short of frustrating, stressful, and completely unacceptable. Since September 23, 2026, I have been attempting to surrender my former SBLI life insurance policy, which Prosperity Life acquired. As of October 14, 2026, I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY CASH SURRENDER VALUE. I completed and submitted all required documentation, including the surrender form, EFT authorization, and a voided check for direct deposit. I was initially told the process would take approximately five business days. Instead, I have encountered repeated delays, conflicting information, additional paperwork requests, and a complete lack of accountability. At one point, I was informed that my signature did not match the original signature on file. I explained that I experienced a major cerebrovascular accident (CVA) in 2019, which affected my handwriting and signature. Rather than providing a reasonable solution or clear guidance, I was met with more delays and inadequate communication. I was later informed that additional paperwork was needed, despite previously being told my documents had been received. I resubmitted the requested forms and continued following up. I HAVE CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE DAILY, AND ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, I WAS PROMISED THAT A MANAGER WOULD RETURN MY CALL. NOT ONE MANAGER HAS CALLED ME BACK. Representatives repeatedly assured me that all paperwork had been received and that my funds would be expedited. I was also given conflicting information regarding a paper check supposedly being issued. Yet I have received absolutely nothing—no check, no direct deposit, and no clear explanation. How can a company repeatedly promise to expedite a customer's funds, fail to follow through, and refuse to provide meaningful communication or accountability? What is particularly disturbing is the lack of consideration for my medical circumstances. As someone who survived a life-altering neurological event, I should not have to repeatedly explain why my signature has changed or struggle to receive reasonable assistance. After experiencing these ongoing issues, I took the time to review other customer experiences and complaints about Prosperity Life. What I read raised even more concerns about how this company handles customer service, communication, and policyholder requests. While I can only speak directly to my own experience, the reviews prompted me to take further action. After carefully reviewing these customer complaints and considering my own experience, I have submitted a formal complaint to the appropriate insurance regulatory authorities requesting an investigation into how Prosperity Life has handled my policy surrender and the continued failure to release my funds. I have been more than patient. I have submitted the paperwork, complied with the requests, made repeated phone calls, and given this company numerous opportunities to resolve the matter. THIS IS MY MONEY FROM A POLICY I MAINTAINED. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BEG A LIFE INSURANCE COMPANY TO RELEASE MY CASH SURRENDER VALUE. My concerns extend beyond the delayed payment. The lack of transparency, failure to return calls, inconsistent explanations, and apparent disregard for customer concerns are deeply troubling. I would NOT recommend Prosperity Life based on my experience. Before purchasing or maintaining a policy with this company, I strongly encourage consumers to do their research, read customer reviews, and understand the company's procedures for accessing their policy funds. As of today, October 14, 2026, I remain without my surrender funds and without a satisfactory explanation. Prosperity Life, your customers deserve better. Accountability, professionalism, transparency, and timely payment should be basic expectations—not something policyholders have to fight for. I am sharing this review to make other consumers aware of my experience and to encourage greater accountability. I hope the regulatory investigation results in the resolution that repeated calls to customer service have failed to provide.
