I just read an article about kratom where they described the substance as “leaving a trail of death and addiction around the world”. That had to be the most warped and sensationalist description of a generally mundane plant leaf that has millions of regular chronic pain consumers that I have ever read. It’s this type of propaganda that causes disinformation around the world and for people to demand that we take away their freedoms to choose what goes into their own bodies. What utter nonsense! But to anyone who doesn’t know any better, they would think kratom is pure evil just from their introductory description. How pathetic this “news” organization is. Journalism is a joke these days.

I'm largely reviewing their Nonprofit Explorer / Charity Navigator tool, which I've found to be the most reliable and efficient of the ones that are available. Unlike other "candid" charity navigators that require you to register with them so they can use your information as they see fit (including selling), or charity navigators who promote shady nonprofits that inexplicably have some kind of "gold" or "platinum" identifier (despite documented misappropriation scandals), ProPublica allows you to see what's been reported to the IRS without a subscription or registration, and they simply offer what's been reported. ProPublica is not bought and they don't make fringe judgments that promote certain charities over others. When I have questions about a nonprofit, I go to ProPublica first.

I don't have time to go to this site very often, because I try to read the NYT and also seek news on PBS and occasionally foreign media. But whenever I do have a spare moment to go here, I am always impressed by the quality of the reporting and I always learn something new of importance.

Pro Publica does authentic investigative journalism, but it's also cowardly, refusing to take on the most important topic: how Putin manages Trump/MAGA and is rapidly destroying American democracy, government. I repeatedly contacted their reporters and managers about most important topics (such as how Aileen Cannon obviously sabotaged Jack Smith's case against Trump for espionage, treason) they refuse to cover. They ghosted me. Like almost all media, they are cowards afraid to directly confront traitors.

They make the claim on their website that "Investigative Journalism and News in the Public Interest". But when I read their articles, the content appears wildly lopsided and their facts are murky, at best. I don't see how such crummy journalism from Renee Dudley (emphasis on "dud") and Jeff Kaocould (emphasis on "could") be in the public's best interested. I would argue the quality of ProPulica's content is a tightrope between reality and how they want to twist the facts - borderline fake news.
