In preparation for the PMP exam, I attended the Project Management Academy (PMA) course in June 2020 with Sean Coyle as the instructor. Sean has a great teaching style and is able to get though a lot of information efficiently all while keeping the class interesting. I'm certain Sean is one of the reasons I was able to pass the PMP exam on the first attempt! I would recommend PMA and if you can find a section that Sean is teaching, I would tell you to go out of your way to have him as your instructor.

Let's get straight to the point!!!
Let's get straight to the point. This course absolutely works in not only passing the PMP exam (my main goal), but also truly providing understanding of the content conceptually. I took a 4 day boot camp in mid-July that was facilitated by Jackie Ockleberry. The following are a the primary benefits of the course that contributed to my success:
1). First and foremost was our teacher Jackie, also referred to as "Jackie-O". She thoroughly explained the various concepts, provided realistic examples, went through numerous exercises for critical path and equations, and really fostered an environment where many individuals felt comfortable enough to ask questions.
2). The PMA course portal contains lots of great resources, from topic specific quizzes, flash cards, scenario-based question banks, and times mock exams, and many exercises for equations, terms, concepts, and critical path.
3). The quick study reference guides were a huge help to refer back to for those areas where I may not have been that comfortable. Little by little, I referred to those reference guides less and less.
In the end, I think if you follow the program, take enough practice questions and timed exams, this course has a solid roadmap to not only pass the PMP, but really provide conceptual understanding. And if you have the option to choose Jackie as your facilitator, I would highly recommend.

All of the additional online tools that…
All of the additional online tools that are available for six months after the training were a huge part of passing the PMP Certification exam.

Great experience with Project Management Academy…
I have had a very good experience with Project Management Academy. They truly care for their students and support them from day 1 onwards. I would recommend their PMP Exam preparatory course and Friday webinars to anyone who is considering taking the PMP Exam. PMP is a very challenging exam, but with great partners such as Project Management Academy, you are sure to increase your chance of passing the first time your sit for the 4 hour long exam!

Excellent online workshop for PMP
I attended the 4-day online workshop for PMP certification training in late June 2020. Bill Holmes was the instructor. Bill was great in the sessions, lots of interaction during the class. He gave plenty of real world examples which really helped. He was great with regards to content delivery and pointing out tips and tricks for the exam throughout the workshop. His teaching style made it really easy to follow the material and gave me the confidence to take the test within 3 weeks of the class and passing the test comfortably.
Thanks Bill Holmes and PMA.... Highly recommend you take the class with Bill Holmes.

Passed PMP on the First Attempt!
I took the training class in Feb with Fran Mies in the Chicago location and my experience was excellent. Fran was very experienced and excellent at teaching. After the class, I developed a mindset that helped me to pass the exam on my first try and I am also applying the PMP framework to my daily work.
The materials from PMA is also very helpful. It has extensive resources to help you to prepare for the exam. Please note that you will still need to put in the hours to study. Let's use ITTO to explain this: Inputs are studying hours and your mindset. Tools are class materials. Output is the PMP certification.

Great PMP Prep Course, Would Recommend
I took the PMP Prep course online through PMA with instructor Trevor Noad. I HIGHLY recommend taking this course to jumpstart your PMP studying and preparation.
OVERALL: Would definitely recommend! Probably best to take a prep-course at the start of your prep/study journey, but I imagine it could also be helpful at any point in your study journey.
COURSE MATERIALS (Great) - Materials were delivered to me insanely fast and on time (I signed up only a few days before the course started). Materials included the latest PMBOK edition, a bound book of all the course slides (great for following along and note taking), a quick study guide (also super useful), and a book on Agile (not critical, but nice to have). Normally I'm an online-only kind of person, but I admit it was really helpful to have something physical in front of me as I followed along.
COURSE CONTENT (Great) - So PMP prep isn't exactly sexy... the content is inherently dry. But! I felt the PMA course presented the content in an easy to understand format, timeline, and pace. The course covers the PMP exam content end-to-end, at a fairly "surface" level, so it was great to use the course as a starting point in my studying journey. Now I have some context as I go into more in-depth studying on my own.
COURSE INSTRUCTOR (Excellent) - Trevor Noad was a great instructor and was honestly the highlight of the course for me - very knowledgeable, good pace, and just pleasant to listen to. As I said, PMP content is inherently dry, but Trevor did a great job keeping me interested and engaged. He shared lots of tips, trick, mnemonics, and insight that made the content feel more digestible and memorable. Trevor also clearly knows what it likes to be a student of this course, which was very helpful in how he delivered the material. Even something as simple as telling us ahead of time when breaks would be shows an empathy for us as students and made it feel like he wasn't just talking in to space (a true danger when running online classes!)
MOCK EXAM REVIEW (Meh) - This is the only part of the course I think needs improvement; it's an activity on the final day and just felt like it could be better organized. To be clear: the instructor Trevor did the best he could given the structure of the course. I think PMA should do a better job collecting mock exam inquiries in advance and/or providing a mock exam class breakdown in advance. That would make the whole activity much smoother and useful.
ONLINE COURSE & FREQUENCY (Excellent) - I took an online course that was in half days (so 8 days, 4.5 hours each day). I've been working remotely for years, so the online delivery method worked for me. I absolutely LOVED doing half-days. This content is dense... after 4.5 hours of class my brain definitely needed a break to digest and recharge before the next day. Ultimately the half-days helped me retain more and not feel overwhelmed or burnt out in the process. I don't know how someone could possible sit through an entire day of instruction and have good retention.
POST-COURSE MATERIALS & SUPPORT (Great) - After completing the course, you have access to a bunch of helpful online study content like practice exams, flash cards, and so on. There's also weekly "office hours" held online where you can drop-in and ask a PMA instructor about any of the course material you're stuck on.
ASSISTING WITH PMP APPLICATION (Excellent) - During the course, there was good content about the Dos and Don'ts of applying for the PMP. The application had always felt a bit daunting and scary to me, but getting instruction on how to best complete the application was SUPER helpful and alleviated my anxiety. My instructor even offered to review my app draft prior to submission :)
REGISTERING & DISCOUNTS (Excellent) - The call-in customer service was super helpful to get me registered and setup. I mentioned I was furloughed at the time, and was immediately put in touch with someone to help me get a course discount.

I took the Project Management Academy's…
I took the Project Management Academy's PMP Exam Prep Course during June 2020 in Orlando. As advertised, the course provided great information to get me ready for the PMP exam. The 4 days in class provided a distraction-free environment which helped me stay focused. PMA also provided great reference material and study guides for use after class. My instructor Wayne Brantley did a great job getting through the large amount of material and did well to find ways to make the content stick. I took and passed the exam after one week of studying...the structured format of the class made this possible, I would have definitely had to spend much more time studying without it.
