The Certified Dev Sec Ops course, labs and exam from Practical-DevSecOps is awesome. The labs are very intuitive and the course material effectively communicates the subject.

- Won’t make you an expert, but gives a very good base - Believe them when they say Practical, be ready to actually DO stuff by yourself. - Short curse, concise, very informative - Teaches how to transform a regular CI/CD pipeline into a production-ready DevSecOps* pipeline - Good for beginners in DevOps, but at least you have some IT background - They mention commercial products, but the course is focused on open-source tools.

For my experience in the CDP course, the course materials were extremely relevant for anyone tasked with building a foundational DevSecOps flow, covering a wide range of topics the video portal broke the material up well and provided a good gauge of progression. The lab environment is probably one of the most convenient I've experienced in any class or personal training. Usually for this type of environment in other trainings, I'd spend the first half of a day downloading all the VMs or spinning up a Vagrant environment. With the Practical DevSecOps online lab environment, you basically have 1 click and your environment is good-to-go in about 1-5 minutes. It makes it extremely useful to get rolling without the normal pain of setting up a lab using piecemeal VM images. From the support side of things, I had a good experience. Staff are usually friendly and responsive, though I think the timeliness depends on your time-zone. Most of the staff is shifted time zones it seemed, so when I worked on labs (nighttime CST) responses were pretty quick. If you're doing it during the daytime, your mileage may vary. The certification itself was an interesting experience, with the 12 hour, hands-on exam from which you produce a detailed report. Honestly, I was somewhat familiar with the concepts going in, so I expected to breeze through the certification, especially being open notes. I was mistaken, in an extremely good way. The certification test isn't merely a repetition of the concepts taught, it actually takes the concepts and makes you think critically about what you learned to accomplish the tasks. It ended up taking me most of the 12 hours and at the end I was exhausted but gratified. Overall, the actual certification test was one of the best I've taken, with the hands-on piece really driving knowledge of the materials. I had grown mostly disillusioned with lengthy multiple choice exams (some of them even open book) and hands-on exams that were honestly pure regurgitation exercises. Responses on my passing attempt were promptly within the window the company said they would provide it. Overall, I would (and have) highly recommend this training for anyone starting down a DevSecOps journey, either from a security professional or a security minded developer wanting to champion DevSecOps in their organization. Being in a hiring position as well, I'll know when I see that someone has attained the cert in this class, I can trust that they are someone with the technical skills, knowledge, and, probably more importantly, motivation to push our organization up the DevSecOps maturity model. Thanks, Imran and team, for the wonderful class!

Really amazing training with practical cases and very active slack and email support! The CDP course is more oriented for security engineers that want to be familiar with DevOps and automation. Maybe some additional security subjects/course would be useful for people already comfortable with DevOps.
