I bought the RomanianPod101 course. This was the worst £200.00 I ever spent. The initial 'level test' was flawed, as if you didn't know an answer you had to choose an option (there was no option for 'don't know'), which meant for me, I must have 'guessed' the right answer for alot of the ones I didn't know, and this put me on a higher level of the programme and I could not find a way to change this, so it was a struggle from the start. The interface/screen was 'clunky' and not easy to navigate (I was using the laptop and not the app). The lessons were very dull and boring and just seemed 'computer generated'. In one case, I was studying the Genitive Case (personal study, not with Romanian Pod) and I saw a tutor on the programme give incorrect information to someone asking a question on the subject. Me, with my new and basic knowledge of that Case, able to spot that tutor's clear error! I did report that to my own tutor (who was lovely), so hopefully it could be changed, otherwise other students would have seen that incorrect advice. So essential to get that right, when it's already such a tricky and impossible subject! £200.00 is not a small amount of money! I continually tell people to stay away from RomanianPod101 and get a personal tutor instead, or try another programme. This one is dreadful.

This site is hard to use and very inconvenient to log in to do lessons. I decided not to continue but have found that the emails just don't stop coming even though I unsubscribe and update my email preferences. I'll soon be so fed up I will just asign it to junk.

You can learn a language with Pod101 and if you want to learn an uncommon language you may not have much choice. However it is tedious process. I have been using the app and the website (you need to use both as they are different) for the last four months learning Afrikaans. Here are some of the frustrations: - all the recorded lessons are identical, down to the exact wording in English. Obviously the Afrikaans dialogue is new with each lesson. - there are lots of mistakes in translation and even in Afrikaans spelling. One example is Kaapstad was translated Netherlands. - there are quite a few resources but they can be hard to find. - the flashcards are good but can only be accessed online, not in the app. - there are constant requests for you to upgrade to a higher level and prices for this can vary enormously.
