Terrible law firm. My first lawyer skipped one court appearance then later I was informed that he was going to miss another court appearance which was the most important court date on my divorce. The night before that court date I find out that my lawyer was fired and my case was assigned to a new lawyer who knew NOTHING about my case. The next day, my unprepared, new attorney tried to piece together a showing and the judge decided for my ex in every insurance that was brought up. My new lawyer was late to every court appearance I had. Before my divorce was completely settled I find out that my "new" lawyer was leaving the firm and I was assigned yet another lawyer. Horrible representation and they charge you for EVERYTHING. Overcharge in my opinion. When lawyers are in the firm for a period of time their rates go up. So if you have a lawyer working "for" you no matter how long they have been on your case and their "employment duration time" comes up the amount your lawyer charges you is increased. I would never, EVER recommend this firm to anyone.

I had a bad experience with this law firm. When I originally called to set up a consultation, I asked them if they had a lawyer who was licensed in BOTH Oregon amd Washington because I knew beforehand that I would need a lawyer who was licensed in both states. I was told that that they did have a lawyer who was, so I set up a consultation time. When my consultation time came I payed the $100 dollar fee and had my consult with a gal who also assured me they had a lawyer licensed in both states and that they could help me. So I think "wonderful! This is great!" So they tell me that I need to pay a 3000 retainer fee and set up a meeting in person with the lawyer. So I payed the retainer fee and scheduled my first meeting. When I go to the meeting I was met with the lawyer as well as another gal who was shadowing my lawyer. Said lawyer asks me about my situation and after I explain it again she proceeds to say: "now for your case it looks like you are going to need a lawyer who is licensed in both Oregon and Washington,. We do not have lawyers licensed in Oregon, but once you get your case moved here we can certainly help you." I was pretty upset and explained that I had specifically (several times) asked and requested for a lawyer licensed in both states because I already knew that's what I needed!! Than! On top of that they tried to give me back my retainer less the 300 for the lawyer consult! In the end I did receive my full retainer fee back but not the 100 first consult. But the hassle and time that was waisted was ridiculous and unnecessary! I will not be recommending them!

Very poor communication. I would ask several questions in emails, and only get answers to some of those questions. I would have to email again, or call to have the other questions answered. At such a high price point, you would expect them to be on top of their clients.

My case was pawned off three times throughout my custody case. The first lawyer merely taking it till he left the firm, the next was a "lawyer" who come to find out didn't/hadn't completed his board/certification but was merely working under Scott Ashby's certification. Then pawned to another later after the previous one got his board certification & left the firm. In which the final lawyer had no clue as to what she was doing, Sarah, & merely tried settling on anything the opposing party ever offered. Throughout the whole case however, the only thing that was consistent was the firm nitpickingly charging me for any & every little thing that they did/didn't do, even when 70% of the work they'd do was to fix their previous mistakes. I do not recommend at all. I spent thousands of dollars for literally almost nothing. Look around at other firms, & get a better lawyer(s) for your time & money. Ashby Law Firm is a horrendous joke.
