Well, I have been reading and writing review for OBC for a long time. I gave them so many chances, but I decided that it is time to quit because I have some respect for myself. It is more important to have zero mistakes in the review than to actually write a good review. Everything is generic for them, no matter how good and original your review is. If you are part of The First Ten program, and if you have written 28 reviews for example, be ready to receive about 18 e-mails with the title that goes a bit like this: First Ten Submission Refused. Okay, you go over that and decide to go on. You reach 28 reviews AGAIN, and you receive another 15 emails that your submissions have been refused in a span of 20 minutes. It would be okay if your submission gets refused the same day or the next day, but getting 15 submissions refused 2 days before the payout is a bit lame and discouraging. I just have a feeling that they are ready to take your work, but give you a bare minimum for it. I do not recommend this site to anyone as their service is really messed up. I could state more cons for this site, but I will stop here. To be honest, I really liked OBC before, and I actually gave it a chance, but I don't think this is a propriate way to treat someone who is doing a pretty good job for you.

I signed up with them because I enjoy reading and during the time I was in and out of the hospital with my daughter at the same time they were bombarding me to send a review of a book that I read. By the time I was to respond, they totally blocked my account. I even reached out to Scott on Twitter wanting to explain my unique situation and he has never responded. Their platform too is highly disorganized and it would be so nice if they took the time to make it more user friendly for mobile and desktop users instead of being so quick to kick people off.

OnlineBookclub.org is probably as close to an outright scam as you can get without actually stepping over the line. Read the fine print and believe it! All they offer you for the big package of $ 300 is ONE review. Not even one verified Amazon review, just one ‘in depth’ review every first year college student can write. Forget the fluffy in between the lines promises about their on site activities. They amount to nothing tangible. The review: obviously the reviewer read the book and left what I would call a stereotype straight out of creative writing class one review. I lectured this stuff at college. Good and nicely done, finding lots of positives and the odd mistake for balance. Even though it was a ‘very good’ review it just smelled like an assignment. OBC is hard to contact before you pay to clarify what they actually do. Once you paid you’ll find that you can buy anything they imply you would get in the first place. Their charges are astronomical; their delivery is miniscule at best. $ 300 bought me one useless ‘expert’ review, maybe one unverified Amazon review. Whatever happened to my book on their site has produced zero sales. Just to put this in context: When I spend $ 300 for a book promotion on other sites like BB etc. I will sell around 50 books and every 100 books sold usually produce one genuine, verified Amazon review. I admit, hoping for more than one basically useless review was my own costly mistake. Don’t follow me down the rabbit hole.

Absolute scam. They will get all your reviews and publish them but when it is time for them for pay up for them, they will cancel your review page. And since it has been cancelled, they won't pay you anything at all. I will complain about them to the BBB as well as FTC. They have edited my review to show mistakes that are not there in the first place. I have screenshots of all the reviews that I did. And they don't match the ones shown on the editor's notes. Also, I don't know which English classes they took because they don't seem to understand that some parts such as hyphens are subjective. Also they have the structure of the reviews which they sometimes do and do not follow. Do not waste your time here.

Not suitable for UK reviews. And trying to delete your account from this site is impossible. I responded to your first email on the 7th February and also sent you a copy of that email some days later, when you told me that you hadn't received my first email I did send to correct email address. But you have now contacted me on FB messenger and I have replied to. your messages I don't think there is any more I can say we are just going round in circles.

I was writing reviews for OBC for almost a year, and everything was more than okay, I was good at reading and writing, and I had no issues. I was just getting books with interesting plots, and everything seemed okay. I was actually thinking about leaving an excellent review about OBC here, giving it the best score since I enjoyed it so much. But one day, everything crushed. I opened my profile to see how I am doing with my score, and I couldn't reach my profile. It said that it was deactivated. Pardon me? I did nothing to get my profile deactivated. My reviews were more than clean, and I reviewed my books as carefully as I could. The reason for deactivation was wrong statements in my post questionnaire. Okay, no problem, but I have never gotten a message from editors that I did something wrong. That 'wrong questionnaire' was almost a year old! Usually, if you make such a mistake, the editor or the author contacts you asking if you made a mistake, or if there was something wrong on their side. I was surprised because the review for that book was published, and then after almost a year, it is wrong. After endless discussions in which I was always wrong, I quit and deleted my account completely. I was crushed, and I felt unimportant and small. I was giving all of me, and my reviews were more than good, but here is what I got at the end. I would be happy if someone offered me another try to fix my mistake since I have made it as a rookie, and I was just starting with everything, but no. Everything fell into the water because of that post questionnaire which editors failed to signal something was wrong with at the right time. That was a totally disappointing experience for me, and I am sad to leave such a review for OBC. Edit: Owner of the OBC, I already contacted you at the time the problem occured, and we led a long coversation. You didn't help or provide a solution for me to make things right since I have made a mistake as a beginner. After being a part of OBC for a long time, I would expect you to help me figure things out, and I was so disappointed by your actions. My account on OBC is deleted completely, and I don't see how you could bring it back and make me level 6. I don't want to be part of OBC where my work is not appreciated. It just made me nervous at the end and hard to enjoy the thing I love the most - reading. Sorry, but that's my final choice.

Just recieved an update from them TODAY on the 26th of the second 2021 stating that trust pilot haven't given them my email. However Trust pilot DID give it to them and I was subject to over a week of there owner or someone emailing on his behalf saying that it had been a mistake whilst at the same time emailing trust pilot and telling them I WAS LYING. I was able to prove my case which Is why this review still stands. THESE PEOPLE A SCAM ARTISTS OF THE WORST KIND. update ONCE AGAIN A REPLY FULL OF LIES. THEY HAVE ALREADY ASKED FOR MY EMAIL ADDRESS ON THE PREVIOUS COMPLAINT AND IT WAS GIVEN TO THEM. Despite them asking Trustpilot for more information they are still spamming emailing me daily and refusing to tell me where they got my private email from. Also, their use of a .org extension is misleading. .Org is for "not-for-profit" groups. This is definitely NOT a not for profit group if it is involved in spam emailing and purchasing personal data from who knows where. Scott. If you're going to reply, Tell me where you got my email address. And don't tell me to unsubscribe, I've never subscribed and I want to know how YOU got MY details.

8/28/2020: Initial Review edited as it is now, after two years, ruled 'defamatory'. Response to Scott's first reply dated 8/29/20: I think you're missing the point and that point is that you're supporting a platform that is trying to take over the world via unethical means. I refuse to be a part of that any longer. As I have messaged your moderators on the site, you have the means to contact me when onlinebookclub.org decides to make the change. Response to Scott's reply dated 8/31/2020: As stated above, "I wrote to the moderators that Amazon had taken over the publishing business and that I could not in good conscious support what the book club was doing. Thus, I wanted to close my account." Therefore, you do have my username and e-mail. Sorry that Amazon wouldn't publish your book, but when the biggest elephant in the room aka Amazon has taken over the world, even to the point of not publishing your book, you can certainly understand my reluctance to support them either. Response to Scott's reply dated 9/2/2020: Please see above. Response to Scott's reply dated 7/7/2022: Stop. See above. Thank you, but no thank you. Response to Scott's reply dated 8/16/2022: Your response indicates that you may have made some changes. Congratulations for taking my and other reviewers' comments to heart. It's about time. Lastly, I would appreciate you ceasing your near-monthly responses that keep getting erased so that no one can see the two years of harassment. Thanks.
