great treatment but expensive
I tried this new vet office because it was much closer to my home then the vet I was currently using for 25 years and was happy with. The office in Pt. Pleasant was very clean and bright and the staff was wonderful to deal with. My problem was for the advised treatment plans I would have to travel to the main office which is further from my home than my current vet. I also found the prices to be significantly higher for example medication-old vet prednisone 10mg for 30 tabs=$8.40, this vet prednisone 10mg for only 20 tabs=$18.45. Ear drops old vet $40.58 this vet $49.60. Also since the dog needed to be given anesthesia for an ear hematoma and she is less than 2 years old my old vet did not require any pre-op testing since she is a young healthy dog but this new vet required a couple of pre-op tests that added about $300 to the bill which was estimated over $1,600. I am just not able to afford this new office on a fixed income. I did have the dog treated at my old vet for under $600. Cost is the main reason for sticking with my old vet unless a real emergency occurred and the 3 minute car ride out weighs the cost.
