My experience with NVR Mortgage was one…
My experience with NVR Mortgage was one of the most frustrating and stressful experiences I have ever had. My husband and I had credit scores over 800, provided every document requested, and fully cooperated throughout the process. Despite that, I repeatedly found inconsistencies involving the interest rate, discount points, loan estimates, and closing costs, requiring me to question the numbers and request explanations. When I compared NVR Mortgage’s written response to my CFPB complaint with my actual Closing Disclosure, I found significant differences between what was represented to the regulator and what appeared on my loan documents. I raised those concerns and requested that the documents be reconciled before closing. Throughout the loan process, Rosalinda communicated directly with me and advised that it would be easier for my husband to carry the loan by himself. I relied on that guidance. However, after I filed complaints with the CFPB, the Florida Office of Financial Regulation, and the Florida Attorney General, NVR Mortgage later argued that I was not the borrower—only the borrower’s wife. That position was completely inconsistent with how I had been treated throughout the transaction, where I was the primary point of contact for months. While I was hospitalized, I attempted to resolve the matter professionally and even proposed a compromise so we could close on our home. Instead, I was told by branch manager Matt Jenkins that my options were to “take it or leave it.” That was not the customer experience I expected during one of the biggest financial decisions of my life. After months of moving toward closing, completing our New Home Orientation, and receiving wire instructions, our loan was ultimately denied just days before closing. Shortly afterward, we obtained financing through another lender using substantially the same financial information. My advice to every homebuyer is this: never assume the numbers are correct simply because they come from the lender. Compare every Loan Estimate and Closing Disclosure, verify every interest rate, every discount point, every fee, and keep all communications in writing. Ask questions until you fully understand every charge, and shop multiple lenders before making a final decision. Transparency, consistency, and honesty are essential in the mortgage process. Unfortunately, those were not the qualities my family experienced with NVR Mortgage.
