Absolute grifters
Absolute grifters. I initially discovered NFPT in 2021, when they were offering a relatively low-cost ($199) certified personal training exam that I could take online and receive the digital certification within 1-2 business days. Fast forward to earlier this year when I was needed to take another CPT exam (because some of my clients mentioned wanting to train at a commercial gym again), so I bought the NFPT exam for $299. Not sure why the price went up $100 other than the company just charging more for the same knowledge, but that’s a different issue altogether. I study for a few weeks and I go to take my exam online, but it’s no longer an option. You have to take the exam at a testing center, none of which offered exams within a reasonable frame of time (and would have cost me hundreds of dollars of missed sessions for the aforementioned clients). NFPT also offers remote testing, but their requirements for that option are quite frankly ridiculous. As I needed the certification ASAP, I searched for CPT exams that you could take online and obtain your certification immediately. I found one for $99 (Expert Certified), and within a day had my cert. I call NFPT trying to get a refund for my unused CPT exam ($299), but lo and behold, the period of getting a refund has passed! Even though I have up to a year to take the exam (a digital product costing this company nothing if it remains unused), yet I only had 30 days to obtain a refund. I asked for an exception, I asked for credit towards other courses, but was told I simply would lose the $299 because it’s “policy.”
