Pleasant Surprise
I encountered this perfume house by chance while searching for good fragrances with frankincense. After browsing their website for a while, I noted the enthusiasm of the perfumer through his descriptions and blogs and learned a lot about natural perfumes through this short session. Although the website is not the most organized and technically a bit old, that didn't stop me from ordering (don't judge a book by its cover, right?). I ended up ordering a discovery set of 8 x 5.5 ml perfumes of my choice for my wife and myself because I liked their descriptions and reviews, and left a small note for my order. Mr. AbdesSalaam replied fairly quickly to my note and provided his bank transfer information (I chose to pay by simple bank transfer). Mr. AbdesSalaam replied to my follow-up emails and feedback as well, which gave me a kind of personal experience. The samples arrived quickly in about 4-5 days (I live in Germany) and were packaged safely. I also got a nice small wooden box because I ordered more than 5 samples. To my pleasant surprise, I also received a generous amount of free samples. To like a specific perfume is a very subjective and personal thing, and I am not an expert in olfaction, however I couldn't have even imagined what I smelled. It was for me the best smelling perfume I have encountered in my life. It was something completely new and positively unexpected, the depth, complexity, and liveliness. Please note that I am new in the world of niche perfumes, so you might not get the same impact if you're experienced in this field. However, if you are new to this world, I think there can't be a better introduction. Thanks to Mr. AbdesSalaam, I have a new standard for perfumes. I won't go into details about notes and performance, but I want to mention that natural perfumes tend to be more dynamic and intimate, have less projection, and don't last as long as perfumes with synthetic fixatives (apart from some oud-based perfumes). So, keep this in mind. The prices are high without a question, but are the perfumes of great value? For me, a clear yes. Here one goes for quality, not quantity. For a first time order, I would go for the discovery set. Maybe send an email first to get some guidance on what to choose based on your expectations and preferences. I believe perfumes of AbdesSalaam Attar are a journey worth taking. In total, the experience of browsing the website, contact, shipping and of course the quality of the perfumes was great, and I am coming back soon for my next order.
