Archivist AI - my number one GM tool. Well worth it!
As a die hard D&D player and Forever DM, I love keeping my game consistent at the table. Over the years I have struggled with maintaining continuity. Notes get lost, NPC names get forgotten and lore gets changed. Certainly when playing intermittently (damn that scheduling monster!), just remembering what happened in the last session, let along what happened ten, twenty or more sessions before, is a challenge. Back in December 2024, I stumbled across Archivist AI. I had started playing a game on Discord, and Archivist had a bot that could sit in the channel, listen in and create a transcript of what happened during the game. It would then take that transcript, cut out all the OOC stuff, summarise what actually happened story wise in the game, and pull out all the key entities - the NPCs, Locations, Objects and Factions - how I described them and how they interacted with the story. I was blown away. And since then, the two Gregs developing this wonderful tool (both die-hard ttrpg gamers themselves) have been making it better and better - regularly releasing new features. My face to face game for example, I can now import the audio I recorded on an iPhone and the audio is analysed for individual voiceprints so the transcript can be almost as good as the Discord version where each speaker is automatically on a separate channel. I've since had a look at some of the competitors in the market, and Archivist's wide swathe of capabilities blows them out of the water. I highly recommend it.
