Lost $670 in property, zero accountability, and deceptive billing promises
I hired MOVD for a local NYC move (~$943). Part of why I chose them was their explicit promise that they wouldn't charge my card until the move was complete and any claims/issues were fully resolved. That turned out to be completely false—they charged my card immediately while ignoring $670 in lost property. The Main Issues: - $670 Missing Overnight Bag: A bag containing personal care items, clothing, and wellness items disappeared during transport. After thoroughly checking both apartments and my building, I submitted an itemized list. MOVD refused to cover it, claiming I lacked pre-move photographic evidence of the bag's exact contents. - Property Care: My mattress was dragged completely unwrapped down building stairs and across the sidewalk, arriving filthy. Multiple plants were damaged, and my favorite plant was lost entirely. - Management Response: When I spoke with the owner, he dismissed my concerns by stating he "stands with his team"—completely dodging the fact that my belongings went missing while in their custody. Their policy is designed to dodge accountability unless you take photos inside every single bag before they touch it. Save yourself the stress and hire a different NYC mover.

Thank you for the feedback, and I'm sorry your move ended this way. This move took place at the end of April and we worked through the claim with you at the time — we reviewed your itemized list, followed up with the crew, and issued compensation for what we could verify. The bag was never identified to the crew or listed on the inventory. Loss claims are limited to property documented in the crew's custody during the move, which is why we weren't able to cover it. I know that's frustrating. The handling concerns went to the crew directly. I'm reachable at [email protected].
