Disappointing after sales
Traded In a really nice Mercedes for a bigger Mercedes ( mainly for a dog and elderly family)
After 3 days a clunking sound and engine warning light came on
Took it back to Honda Bolton
They knew a rubber boot and nox sensor problem
Agreed a day to take it back (3 weeks away)
Not a mechanic I did not realise it had a count down system 490 miles to engine shut down 😳 seeing as I live a 49 mile round trip away
I thought this is not going to be possible I have to drive to work etc
Rang motor match head office and Bolton branch
I have heard zero back
Had a similar problem when I bought my last car from Williams select Manchester
They had me in same day and problem fixed in less than an hour
My advice skip motor match and go with a better dealer
Traded a good car for a lemon
And paid stupid money for all the add ons
Warranty etc
Awful after sales

To be honest not even 1star bad…
To be honest not even 1star bad experience from start to finish
From the Bolton branch . Yes the sales men helped me . I bought a Kia ceed estate on 27/09/26 issue from the start bonnet wouldn’t shut right interior light switch didn’t work elm light came on stayed on with injector and dpf problem
Service light kept coming up
Brought back took it back repair and then after a week they were delivering it back to my work over 1 hr away the eml came on again injector fault and dpf problem . Tried to get a refund witch they were shitty about so felt I had no choice than to pay £200 more or an older car to swap it for witch I’ve had 4 days and no issue as yet
Now the Kia is back on there forecourt for sale at 10k that’s less than I paid originally and they said to me they have spend 1k fixing it for me I had the car 3 weeks 2 weeks of that was in there garage for repair avoid at all costs numerous days off unpaid to take the car back to Bolton to have to pay £200 more for an older car wen out ov courtesy I believe it should of just been swapped the day after I paid £200 for the new car plus wat I paid originally they put the car on the website at a reduced price so a day later I wouldn’t of had to pay anything talk about taking the piss anyway let’s hope this new car is good

1-Star Review
1-Star Review – Motor Match Crewe
I’m extremely disappointed with my experience with Motor Match Crewe and would not purchase another car from them.
I purchased a 2016 Audi Q3 from Motor Match Crewe on 2 March 2026, with approximately 59,000 miles on the clock. Within around 6,000 miles, the car suffered a major gearbox failure, leaving me stranded and the vehicle undriveable.
The garage that inspected the car found that the driveshaft bolts had come loose, causing a hole in the gearbox casing. This resulted in the need for a complete gearbox replacement, which was a significant and unexpected expense so soon after purchasing a car from a dealership.
The repair cost approximately £1,400. Motor Match contributed £1,000 towards this, leaving me to pay the remaining £400 myself. Whilst I appreciate the contribution, I am extremely disappointed that a car purchased from a dealership developed such a serious fault within such a short period of ownership.
Unfortunately, the problems did not end with the gearbox replacement. Since the repair, I have experienced further issues with the car, including the stop-start function no longer working, cruise control working intermittently, Bluetooth repeatedly disconnecting and the car feeling noticeably different to drive. These are not issues I expected to be dealing with after purchasing a car from a dealership.
What has made the situation even more frustrating is the disagreement over responsibility between Motor Match and the garage that carried out the repair. As the customer, I have been left caught in the middle, trying to resolve problems with a car that I purchased in good faith.
As a result of the ongoing issues with the vehicle, I am now actively looking for another car, despite having purchased this one only recently. One of my main concerns is that the cruise control continues to be unreliable, despite me making it clear when purchasing the car that this was an important requirement due to the amount of travelling I do for work. I specifically needed a reliable vehicle that met my work requirements, and I am now facing the prospect of having to replace a car I have barely owned for any length of time. This has caused additional stress, inconvenience and potential financial expense that I never expected to face so soon after buying a car from a dealership.
The whole experience has caused considerable stress, inconvenience and financial worry. I bought this car expecting reliability and peace of mind, but instead I have spent a significant amount of time dealing with serious mechanical problems and concerns about whether the vehicle is reliable.
I have lost confidence in both the car and the overall experience of buying from Motor Match Crewe. Whilst I appreciate the contribution towards the gearbox repair, this does not undo the stress, inconvenience and ongoing concerns that this experience has caused, particularly when the car continues to have problems.
Personally, after this experience, I would not buy from Motor Match again. I would strongly encourage anyone considering purchasing a vehicle from this dealership to do their research carefully and ensure they understand their rights should anything go wrong. I never expected to be in the position of having to look for another car so soon after purchasing one, and the entire experience has left me extremely disappointed.

NEVER again will I buy from motor…
NEVER again will I buy from motor match BOLTON.
Perfect company when buying the car, but once you leave they have no interest in you what so ever. I bought my daughter her first car from here, had problems as soon as we left the showroom. Phoned them as soon as we got home to report the problem as it was still under warranty, they passed us over to Honda that fixes their problems. Honda booked us in and the car returned to them to be looked over. Problem identified and was told they couldn't fix it and they would book us in with fiat and order a part in to fix another problem we found out about while driving to the garage. That was 4 weeks ago, I'm still waiting for the phone call to say the part has arrived. Constant fone calls to both motor match and Honda to see where the part is and if they have booked the car into fiat, everytime I call nobody seems to know what is going on with my daughters car or that it even exists under them....... the car could have been easily booked in with fiat for the problem with the screen while they waited for the part for the other problem to arrive
AVOID at all costs

The worst buying experience I've ever…
The worst buying experience I've ever had of purchasing a car. I was mislead from the start buying a Fiat 500 rockstar which when started to present faults had had 4 previous owners (car was only 5 years old) unbeknown to me until I received the log book through the post.
I had given motormatch a chance to rectify the problem but the issues with the car reoccurred so I lost confidence in the car and the staff at the Bolton branch. Long story short I returned said car to the Bolton branch for a full refund and would NOT recommend buying from them! AVOID AT ALL COSTS....

Undisclosed defective modification
In July 2025 I purchased a 2016 Audi TT Quattro from Motor Match, Crewe, a part of the Swansway motor group. Prior to my purchase, Motor Match inspected and Issued a new MOT for the vehicle. On presentation for MOT in July 2026 the car was issued with a serious failure resulting from a defective modification of the vehicle’s exhaust system by removal of an original exhaust box section and replacement with a cheap aftermarket part. This modification occurred prior to the car being sold to me and is instantly obvious on visual inspection. As it would have been to the Motor Match mechanics who inspected and issued the car with an MOT prior to the sale to me. So either the mechanics who inspected the car were incompetent/negligent or the modification was knowingly concealed from me at the time of sale. Had I been informed of this, I would certainly have required it to be rectified before proceeding with the purchase. I have raised a complaint with Motor Match but this has been dismissed out of hand by Gareth Morris, Business Manager at Motor Match Crewe.

When I picked the vehicle up the tyre…
When I picked the vehicle up the tyre deflated on the way home, when it was repaired and we got home the parking sensors didn’t work, we were asked to take the car to the
Main dealership for repair, which I did . I took the receipt to motormatch / swansway for a refund and was told to send the receipt via email! 7 emails later no reply, no refund , no apology! Nothing. Disgusting & unprofessional. They are also running BYD next door!!! Beware

Underhwhelming
I recently bought a used car from Motor Match Chester and unfortunately had to trigger my Consumer Rights to return it due to multiple faults that appeared almost immediately. One of the major issues was a significant water leak, despite me specifically questioning the damp smell on the day of viewing and being told it had “never leaked.” This turned out not to be true.
My biggest disappointment wasn’t just the faults, but the way the situation was handled. The manager showed no empathy, and I was made to feel like an inconvenience rather than a customer with a genuine problem. Despite several requests for a call, all communication was pushed through email and passed between different people.
Some parts of the process were handled adequately, which is why this is a 2-star review. However, the lack of honesty, the poor management, and the fact that I received no genuine apology or explanation for selling a car with clear existing issues has left me extremely frustrated.
The company showed no appreciation for the stress and inconvenience this caused me. Because I part-exchanged my old vehicle, I am now left without a car, making it far more difficult to view alternatives. I also had to cover the cost and time of returning the faulty car myself.
Overall, a very disappointing experience that could have been handled far better with transparency, ownership, and basic customer care.
