Be sure to check your statement for the newly charged annual fee!!! I’ve had my Mercury Mastercard for over 12 years. I recently noticed a new charge on my account, and after looking into it, I discovered it was a $49 annual fee. Apparently, sometime in May 2026, they notified me that my account terms were changing and that they would begin charging this annual fee. I called to ask why they had suddenly decided to start charging me after all these years, but they couldn’t give me a proper answer. I closed my account. Then they had the audacity to offer me a $25 credit toward the annual fee if I stayed. I told them no—I wanted the bogus charge removed and my account closed with a zero balance. They did exactly that and then thanked me for my loyalty over the years. Funny, because the loyalty seemed to be one-sided. I have other credit cards with no annual fees, so why the hell would I stay with a company that suddenly decides to charge me one after 12 years?

For those of you who have been deceived by this company, file your complaints here: consumerfinance.gov They will open a case against them, the more people that do it, the better chance we have to put these greedy bastards in their place. I have been a customer since 2012. I have always paid a month in advance on my balance. Today I notice that they have raised the interest rate and added an annual fee of $99.00. This is total deception on their end. I have many, much more prestigious cards that don't charge an annual fee. They have turned this into a low end card that preys on less fortunate people that don't have good credit. I will be paying off my balance and saying goodbye. This is DECEPTIVE BUSINESS PRACTICES AT IT'S HIGHEST LEVEL. I can only hope that a prestigious law firm gets a hold of this and implements a class action lawsuit against this greedy corporate company called, Atlanticus, the company that bought Mercury last year. Customer service said that notices went out but, I have not seen one, so they did this very, very sneakily. Again, deception at the highest levels. I feel sorry for the people who can't afford to pay off their balances. Fortunately, I am not one of those less fortunate people. Goodbye Mercury, you have lost a long-time customer.

My husband has had his account for 3 years, Mercury customer service rep today, Tamara was HORRIBLE!!! His card expired 3 years ago, customer service rep states he had a card mailed in 8/23. Funny his card didn't expire until 10/23. They state it's our mail problem not THEM. ANYWAYS, They NOW CHARGE $49 a year. Rep states we were NOTIFIED! HOW?! you can't even get him a new credit card! These people suck!!!

Can't rely on 4 PIN factor. Can't rely on scanning code for app. You CAN rely on them billing you, though. Not the greatest...kind of like the " Ghetto" card.

I have been with Mercury credit CARD for quite some time and all of a sudden this year June 30 without me knowing there is an annual fee being collected at $99 when I called them to see if they would be able to take that out for the customer service it’s the system that generates that so I even being that works there cannot take it off so what they end up doing is giving me a $50 credit for as long as kept open and include standing, I am very disappointed, but that’s life must move on…. After receiving the $50 credit I guess I’ll just have to swallow the $49 and just close the account. I only gave one star to this review because it won’t let me move further to the common section. and it’s still being advertised out there that is zero annual fee.

Be VERY CAREFUL with this company!! I pay my monthly statement on time every month I even go beyond paying more than minimum every month.. I haven’t used the card since December 2025.. the more I pay towards my balance the higher my current balance goes.. they charge interest rate on purchases n cash advances every month.. I have other credit cards and they are NO WHERE like this company! Please help very careful with this company don’t let my struggles be yours! HIGHWAY ROBBERY!!

Mercury cards are the absolute worst! They’ll lore you in with no annual fees and bam all the sudden you get charged $99 fee. I paid my bill on my due date and they still tagged me with a late fee! They are the scum of the credit card world. Absolutely STAY AWAY

Mercury are crooks..Avoid this company. If you already an account with them eventually you'll be sorry. I've never been late on a payment, yet they suddenly charged. me a $150 annual fee and raised my APR from 26% to 38%. I'll be paying them off and closing my account with Mercury..Never have I had a card company do such a dirty shjtty thing..This kind of bs is going to cost them billions in lost customers in the following years to come..You screwed yourself Mercury
