Meadowwood at Gateway- The Conflict of Interest Condo
Meadowwood at Gateway Condos has a conflict of interest. The current Board consists of the owner of 200+ units and other members who can't be voted out or replaced due to lack of homeowner consensus. There are over 1100 units yet there is no strong board representing the needs of the average owner. Services such as 24 hour security have been cut. Homeowners are assessed late fees with exorbitant interest rates for unclear policies. An example is the maintenance being due within the 1st five days of the month, instead of the 1st five business days. You get assessed a fee for payments not received on the 5th regardless of if the date falls on a holiday or weekend. Yet the management office closes without previous notice on days preceding holidays. Late notices are plastered on front doors. Threats of legal actions and forced foreclosures are made frequently. I honestly believe the intent is to force out homeowners to make the complex 100% rentals owned by one person. I don't regret purchasing my unit but I am wary about the underhanded techniques being employed by Meadowwood at Gateway's current management company.
