I have been to Local Root a couple of times since its opening. Back when the Grand Opening was anticipated, they were handing out free knife sharpening cards at the Belmont Town Day. I held tight to that free card, and when I finally made it into the shop (which was over a year later), I was delighted to hear that the owner/manager fully intended to honor the complimentary service. I even impressed the manager with my ability to retain the card for such a long time. In any case, I brought in my favorite mini chef's knife, and I have been thrilled with the quality of the sharpening. It's better than new! Local Root has all the wonderful tools that make a cook want to browse for an or two. I look forward to returning.

knife sharpening services are THE BEST....after years of really poor knife sharpening gadgets and folks posing as knife sharpening experts, I tried Didriks with thought that I probable just needed new knives....wow, 30 plus year old Sabatier (sp?) knives are like brand new (and no one tried sell me new knives !)

From the store selections to the knife sharpening expertise, Local Root is a go-to destination for anyone who loves to cook.

Local root is a one stop shop for everything kitchen and dining related. I had my knife set sharpened before the holidays, and sharp knives make cooking SUCH a pleasure! LR has a quick 2 day turnaround time, and in the 3 times I brought knives (I like to stagger the sharpening so that I always have a few at home) I never had to wait. There is free parking in the back, and that makes this Belmont shop very easy to access!

The real deal! Thank you! I sent in all nine of my knives and they were sharpened perfectly. I had hesitated to get them sharpened, even though they needed it. But my sharpening steel just wasn't doing the job anymore. I didn't want the blades to be damaged or misshapen, and I read online horror stories of places that ruined knives while 'sharpening' them. But my knives came back better than new, and I happily chopped my way through Thanksgiving and am looking forward to Christmas cooking with my beautifully restored knives! Thank you!
