Terrible customer service. They'd rather argue about responsibility than help a customer.
I genuinely regret purchasing from KidsVIP, and I strongly encourage other parents to consider buying elsewhere. I purchased one of their children's electric ride-on vehicles in late November as a Christmas gift for my daughter. Being winter, she barely had an opportunity to use it until February or March. By late March and April, the vehicle was already developing serious problems. At that point, it had been used no more than approximately 20 times. For a product that costs several hundred dollars and is intended for children, I think expecting it to last longer than a handful of rides is perfectly reasonable. Unfortunately, the quality of the vehicle isn't even the most disappointing part of this experience. It's the customer service. I've spent months going back and forth with CPS, the warranty company associated with KidsVIP. I paid the required deductible, repeatedly provided information, and tried to get the vehicle repaired. Instead of a proper repair, I was eventually offered $300, which I found completely unacceptable. KidsVIP advertises its relationship with CPS and has referred to that partnership in its own correspondence. Yet when I raised concerns, their response was essentially to explain all the reasons why the warranty situation wasn't their responsibility. They've even taken the time to publicly argue about Google review policies and technicalities rather than demonstrate any meaningful interest in helping resolve the problem. And that's what really bothers me. Nobody is asking KidsVIP to perform miracles. I'm asking them to stand behind the products they sell and make a reasonable effort to help when something goes wrong. They are an authorized CPS service centre. They have a relationship with the warranty provider. Surely they could make an effort to advocate for their customer, contact CPS, help facilitate a repair, or at least demonstrate that they genuinely care about the outcome. Instead, I've received explanations about why they aren't responsible. What an incredibly shortsighted way to run a business. These aren't just ordinary products. They're children's toys. Parents and grandparents purchase these vehicles to make children happy, often as birthday or Christmas presents. When one breaks after very little use, it's the child who ends up disappointed. I was genuinely interested in purchasing additional vehicles from KidsVIP in the future. Had they handled this professionally and made a reasonable effort to help, I would have remained a loyal customer. I probably would have recommended them to other families as well. Instead, they've guaranteed that I will never purchase from them again. And the frustrating thing is that this was entirely avoidable. Sometimes good customer service means doing more than the bare minimum you're contractually obligated to do. It means recognizing that a customer has had a terrible experience and making an effort to put things right. KidsVIP seems far more interested in explaining why they don't have to help than finding a reason why they should. If you're considering purchasing a ride-on vehicle for your child, my advice is simple: shop around. Consider other Canadian retailers or even ordering from the United States if necessary. Research the warranty carefully and find out who will actually help you if the vehicle stops working. I wish I had. A company should be judged not just by how it treats customers when they're spending money, but by how it treats them when something goes wrong. Based on my experience, KidsVIP has failed that test miserably. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone.
