Thinking outside the box!
I wanted to write a book that was about my life that I hoped would bring some inspiration to my kids and someday my grandchildren. So I went to Kindle Direct Publishing and when the final transcript was submitted I purchased a hardcover proof of the book. The book is 368 pages long and unfortunately I was in a bit of a hurry as I wanted to give my two children and my wife a copy of the book for Christmas. Somehow when I reviewed the proof I didn't realize that there were 16 pages missing from the middle of the book. (I admit that was my mistake) This mistake was identified by my family when they were reading the book. I then unpublished my book and made the corrections and requested a new proof. Unfortunately when I requested a new proof that particular page on the Internet did not progress to the next page. There was some technical glitch. I requested assistance, and the representative told me that it would take 10 days to "fix this technical problem" and I could request and receive a new final proof of the book. Ten days later the same technical glitch happened again. I was referred again to another technical assistant who assured me then it would be fixed in another 10 days. Unfortunately this occurred over and over again for months! I spoke to 4 different supervisors 10 different technicians without any success over 6 months. Finally my wife had an idea. Since this was being done by AI on a computer she suggested that I simply write a "new book" with a slightly different title (a 3 letter word was added) and I simply added my middle initial so I could be a "different author" and I resubmitted the same 368 pages. Within hours I could request a proof which I did and after looking at the proof I ordered my book without any difficulty. I hope this information is helpful to anyone who wants to write a book, and also may be helpful to the staff members of Kindle Direct Publishing.
