Painfully Slow Claims Process and Poor…
Painfully Slow Claims Process and Poor Communication My experience with John Hancock Travel Insurance has been extremely frustrating. My travel medical claim arose from medical treatment aboard a cruise ship. Because John Hancock was secondary coverage, I followed the required process. My primary insurance ultimately reimbursed a portion, leaving a balance to be submitted to John Hancock along with the documentation, information, medical invoices, proof of payment, and supporting records. After going through all of those steps, I expected John Hancock to handle the remaining claim in a reasonably prompt and responsive manner. Instead, the process has been painfully slow, communication has been poor, and getting meaningful information about the status of the claim has been extremely difficult. What makes this especially frustrating is that virtually all of the work has already been done. The medical expenses are documented, The denied the claims, the primary carrier processed its portion, and the remaining balance is clearly identified. Yet the John Hancock portion continues to drag on. Travel insurance should provide peace of mind when something goes wrong. Instead, this claims experience has created additional frustration after the trip was already over. Based on my experience, anyone considering John Hancock Travel Insurance should understand that filing a claim may involve a very slow process, repeated follow-up, and limited communication. I would be very reluctant to purchase another John Hancock travel insurance policy.
