A Fellowship of Love
The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews is a shining example of the unity, compassion, and loving kindness that demonstrates God's plan for us. When I first began watching Rabbi Eckstein and later his daughter Yael delivering food, medicine and hope to elderly Holocaust survivors in the former Soviet Union, I wept with compassion. I made a promise to God that if he allowed me to be in a position where I could help, it would be my privilege. I was in prison at the time and reliant on the care and generosity of others to support me. During this time in my life, God inclined my heart to have empathy for others who were suffering as my situation allowed me to relate to their struggles. I asked God how he wanted me to help, and on that very day a letter that had been postmarked 5 years earlier arrived and was delivered to my cell. For the letter to have floated around for 5 years undelivered and arrive the very same day I prayed is a true miracle and can only be from God. The letter was from the IFCJ. I have been giving ever since I have been released from prison and it has been a joy to see the reports of how the fellowship has used the funds to help. Especially with the terrible events of October 7th, Jews in Israel and abroad need significant help with food, blankets, medicine and shelter. The soldiers and those in war affected communities need bomb shelters and protective gear, and their families need care and support while their loved one is away. Thank you to everyone at the Fellowship for all of the mitzvot performed daily, and an especially big thank you to Yael for being faithful to her father's vision and continuing the work the rabbi started.
