BroadLink - Unstable App and Disappointing Support
I purchased the BroadLink RM4 Pro specifically to control my Samsung air conditioner remotely. Unfortunately, after many days of testing, I cannot recommend this product for air conditioner control. I spent many hours following BroadLink Support's instructions. I repeatedly deleted and re-added my air conditioner, tested every available IR code set, recorded videos, took screenshots, and even uploaded over 60 MB of evidence to Google Drive for their engineers to review. The support team never answered my most important questions. They never confirmed whether they had actually reviewed my videos, never told me whether my RM4 Pro could be defective, and never responded to my request for a replacement or refund. Instead, I repeatedly received generic troubleshooting instructions and was expected to find manual workarounds. The application itself is also disappointing. The automatic air conditioner setup is unreliable, and the manual IR learning creates a very limited and outdated interface. The gray and blue air conditioner control screens are not synchronized and often display different states for the same device. After firmware V62092, the application became even less reliable, sometimes taking a long time to find the IR device before connecting. A smart home product should work reliably without requiring customers to spend days troubleshooting and experimenting. Customers should not be expected to compensate for software and firmware problems by manually teaching infrared commands. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend BroadLink products for air conditioner control until these software, firmware, and support issues are properly addressed.
