I ended deciding to receive care with another provider due to ease and cost. I was still charged $374 while not receiving any care from them. When I requested a refund they informed me that there would be a $50 service fee because “a provider looked at my chart”. This is extremely sneaky and predatory for them to have something like that in the fine print while providing care to people in sensitive and vulnerable situations. Only go through them if you truly have no other option. Planned Parenthood was cheeper and offered more comprehensive care.

I was panicked and vulnerable when I needed HeyJane. No one would rate their actual abortion experience 5 stars, but even via remote telehealth visits, HeyJane's team made me feel supported and reassured through what was one of the loneliest times of my life. This sounds cheesy now, but at the time, I was so overwrought and in need of compassion, I cried a couple of times at the gentle empathy that characterized the care team's messages to me. I was free to move at my own pace in terms of when I began treatment, while the care team stood by, sending occasional messages to check in on me. The best part of using HeyJane was that I never had to leave my home to speak to their doctors and nurses, receive my medication, or to be treated. I never had to wait in a sterile doctor's office or hassle with a billing department on top of everything else I was going through. I was able to undergo this very personal, private process and recover from it peacefully at home on my couch. Being pregnant when you don't want to be is scary, but for me, HeyJane made it just a little bit less scary.
