I had outpatient surgery on March 10, 2026. On March 15th, around 2 am, I went to the emergency room because of complications related to my surgery. I was admitted to the hospital around 6 am. for testing and to address the issue I was having. The hospital and the doctors were able to resolve my issue, and I was released from the hospital around 5 pm on March 16. I submitted my original claim on April 15th. I have been going back & forth with this company for months. They ask for one piece of information; I submit it. I hear nothing from them; I wait a couple of weeks, call them again, and they tell me they need another piece of information. I submit it as well. Again, I don't hear from them. This same cycle occurred multiple times over a few months. It is now August 23, 2026, over 4 months after I submitted my claim, and still no resolution. It seems to be a deliberate effort to delay resolving my claim. I'm at my wit's end, and really don't know what else I can do.

I received a notice from a third party data security company that I have a relationship with that my password for my account with GTL appeared on the dark web. I attempted to change my password, but was unable to do so. I contacted your customer service at the number provided on your website, I was disconnected after a recored message indicating your customer service reps were unable to help due to high volume. I then attempted to use your chat program with no success. I then sent an email to your CEO, but received no response. I called customer service again and spoke to a rep who told me to wait 48 hours and to try to log in again. That didn't work. I called customer service again and spoke to Michelle who determined the cause of the problem (a transposed digit of my SSN in your system). She advised she would tell your IT department to make the change and in another business day I should be able to log into my account. Sadly, that didn't work so I called again this morning. After a 30 minute wait to speak to a rep I spoke to one. I asked her to put me in contact with Michelle or to leave her a call back message. Michelle had told me the last time we spoke to reach out to her in this way if I continued to have problems. I'm waiting tl receive Michelle's call back. The dates of the events noted above can be provided. Again, it appears that I am at risk for a data security issue and I wish to correct that immediately. However, that has been impossible with your systems and service. My policy numbers are GTA6254484, GTA1340268, and GTA1340269. The first two policies are mine and the third is my wife's. My mother took out small life insurance policies on her two grandchildren, my brother, my sister and myself almost 20 years ago. My mother paid every premium until she was diagnosed with terminal breast cancer in 2017. At that time she signed over the ownership to my sister for the life insurance on her and her daughter, while she signed ownership over to me for the policies on me, my brother’s daughter and myself almost brother (who was disabled and I raise his daughter). When ownership was changed, she also changed the beneficiaries on the respective policies. Specifically, the policy for my brother’s changed from my mother to me, as his daughter was a minor. I have contacted this company more than a dozen times in writing via email, via US mail, and via telephone to get the changes confirmed and have received just as many contradictory statements. My mother passed in 2021. My brother passed in 2025. I attempted to file the claim for my brother the month after he passed and was told that I was the owner, but not the beneficiary. I advised that she had changed the beneficiary prior to her passing and was told there was nothing they could do. I gave up and then received a letter almost a year after his passing claim the received information that he had passed and what I needed to do to file a claim. I again contacted them and was told that I was not the beneficiary and that I would have to file probate. I got frustrated and hung up. I called back and spoke with someone else, got a different answer and said that as the owner of the policy I could make any changes to the policy before he died. Again I got frustrated and tried to explain that we tried to confirm all of the changes over the years prior to both my mother and my brother passed. She I sent her the death certificates via email and have attempted to confirm they were received and that there was nothing else they needed and I have received no response. Regarding the policy for my niece, they claim that they have sent notices to my mother for nonpayment, so they canceled the policy. The policy for me was transferred to another company that has no record of a life insurance policy. Do not waste your money with this company. UPDATED REVIEW: Life insurance claim for my brother was indeed paid, however I would still not do business with this insurance company.

Horrible customer service. Filed an original claim in early March. I had triple bypass surgery on March 2nd. I was in the hospital from 2/26 thru 3/9. I had canceled my policy effective 3/1 so I had hospital indemnity coverage for 3 days in February. I sent all paperwork needed and they also wanted a hospital bill. The one I sent apparently wasn't legible so they denied my claim. They asked for a better copy. Fair enough What wasn't fair was once they received the readable copy they started a NEW claim which meant they started the clock again. The new hospital statement had 2/26 for all the procedures and meds I had so they only paid for one day in February. I called customer service and asked how I could possibly have been admitted to the hospital 2/26,had triple bypass surgery and be released the same day. I asked why common sense did not prevail. No help I submitted a detailed hospital bill with accurate dates and they of course started another NEW claim and started the clock yet again. It is now 8/10 and I am still waiting for additional monies owed. I also tried to call today and was told they couldn't answer my call right now. Unbelievable. They just don't want to pay.

I had a hospital visit in February of 2026. Submitted my claim paperwork to the company by March, 2026 after having to go back and get the necessary paperwork that GTL requested. After numerous calls to customer service and being informed that the claim was under review and being verified I still haven't received my claim. When I call back in July, 2026 I was informed by customer service that they hadn't received my claim until June 12th, 2026. Being curious as to why and where my claim was all that time and hadn't been processed from March,2026 to June, 2026, I really wanted to know where my claim paperwork was between all that time. The representative inform me that they have 45 days to process a claim once they received it, I informed the customer representative that at this point it's been longer than 45 days and I still haven't received my claim. What I do notice is that they take money (premiums), on time every month. This company is going to have to do better with their claims process. I need some resolution to this issue.

The complaint I filed in April was GTLIC, not Humana. It was a standalone policy through Humana. I have heard nothing from this company. DO YOUR DUE DILIGENCE FIRST BEFORE GIVING THEM ANY MONEY. Just as I suspected, Alanna left me a message yesterday, I’ve called her twice today and she has not returned my call. One lady answered the phone who. was very rude. Update 1.30.25 - Ok I have to admit - I was skeptical when I posted this originally. Then a high level person within GTLIC reached out to make it right. She said she wanted to validate my claim and fix it. Within a day or two she had her people on the line, cutting the check and giving us some options on our policy. She was more than professional and fair and made me want to re-establish my relationship with GTLIC, which we did. They turned a tough situation into a happy and grateful customer. *** Watch out for the fine print. My experience with GTLIC – I signed up for their Hospitalization Insurance. I had the policy in effect on Jan 1, and since it seemed like a good company (no problems) on July 1st I expanded the policy with an additional rider. I had surgery in August and I thought we were in good shape. GTLIC is reputable - right? Wrong in my opinion, I filed a claim and they lost it – didn’t contact me – 30 days later I called them, oh sorry we lost the claim…. Then I refiled it and kept after them as 50 days had passed since the original submission. They said I had a pre-existing condition in March and April – I let them know (with my broker) that, that was not true, that the policy was in effect as of Jan 1. They said that did not count, as I upgraded my policy and I had to live with the date of July 1st as they issued a new policy number which made the visit in March and April a pre-existing condition.... They denied my claim. Turns out many people have had these same issues dealing with them. I am going to let anyone who wants to know what they did and how they did it. That they did not honor my claim. But certainly honored taking my money. In my case they took my premiums and paid out nothing. I am happy to discuss my experience with anyone who asks. *** Update 1.23 - The person responsible for Customer Service and I had a great set of conversations as she indicated she would like to resolve the situation and has taken great strides to do so. We have a plan and it should be complete next week. I feel comfortable it will all work out and they are committed to make it right. That is the sign of a very good company.
