If you‘ve never worn fake eyelashes
If you‘ve never worn fake eyelashes, and you’ve been looking at all these glamnetic promo videos thinking that these lashes are going to just snap perfectly into place in seconds! understand that this is not what’s going to happen. The ads are kinda misleading, which is part of why I gave a lower rating. To figure out how apply these lashes correctly without any prior experience is going to take you a good 30-60 minutes. If you have small eyes or eyes that curve at all really you’re going to want to get the anchors. The ends of the magnetic strip won’t bend right with the curve of your eyes with the liner alone. I have smaller eyes, and they are slightly hooded. Most people will probably have to cut the strip to fit their eyes. The issue with this is that you have to line it up with the edge of one of the magnets, otherwise you’ll have an edge that just doesn’t curve with your eye, no matter how many anchors you attach to it. So if the length you want it is in the space between two of the magnets on the lash strip you’re going to have to cut it longer or shorter than what really fits your eyes. I don’t like the magnetic liner. The applicator that comes with the majority of the bundles they sell is not the felt tip one, and it gets messy. It’s not a forgiving liner that you can quickly wipe a bit away if you’ve made mistakes (it’s actually quite hard to take off even with oil based makeup remover). And the magnetic liner is almost impossible to keep off your real lashes! So your lashes will magnetize to one another across your eyeball if you’re not careful (or quick with makeup remover) which is a weird feeling and an even weirder look. The liner makes the magnetic strip attached to the lash sticky and I think using it regularly would reduce the integrity of the lash overall. When using the liner, I still needed to use anchors on all of the magnets to get it to have the same curve as my eye. So for me the liner is kind of pointless. After genuinely struggling, I managed to figure out how to apply all 5 anchors (it would be 6 but in my case I cut the strip to 5 magnets) to the lash strip and wear it without any liner. This is something that glamnetic talks about in their ads - that for easy no liner days this is a quick alternative. It was not quick or easy. But it does eventually work. You just have to put a bunch of TINY magnets really close to the inside of your eye while managing to keep the big fluffy lash aligned closely with the top of your lash line. Do all of this using one eye and while trying not to blind yourself or lose any of the itty bitty anchors. The first five times I tried to do this the fake lashes ended up halfway down from the base of my real lashes and it looked like I had spider eyes. Finally and most importantly, these lashes are really fudging expensive. I paid 90$ for a bundle with the liner and two sets of lashes, as well as the anchors. I got a coupon to get out of paying 30£ international shipping fees (to the UK) but had to pay a 22£ VAT. The shipping process was ok. Their FAQ makes it seem like you can use something called the “PASSPORT” system to get shipping updates and pay your VAT ahead of time (so it dosnt get stuck in customs). But when you check out this is not an option, and when you ask about which customs office it’s been sent to (to call and pay the VAT directly) they won’t be able to give you that info. Instead the HMRC will hold onto your package for a week, try to deliver it and make you pay the VAT at a time you’ll have no prior knowledge of, leave a little note that gives you a code to pay the VAT, and then re-deliver your package in 3-5 business days. In the end I DO love how the Venus lashes without liner look on my eyes. It’s like being a living version of a snap chat filter (around the eyes anyway). You can get away with using them on a bare face and they’re very light and soft. The Vibe lashes on the other hand were too intense for me. But with a full face of makeup or someone going for a more dramatic look the lashes might seem less out of place. - There are lots of companies selling magnetic lashes for much lower prices - now that I have the anchors (which I think would work with any magnetic lash?) I’m not going to buy any more glamnetic lashes because it’s really expensive - I couldn’t find any product similar to the lash anchors sold by another company; they’re tough to master but I ended up really liking them - I have hygiene concerns because you end up touching all over the lashes and anchors, the anchors go almost in your eye, and you can’t really wash them (no info on how to sanitize) - If you haven’t worn falsies before this is going to take some practice, and btw you’re going to lose some of your natural lashes
