Cold emailed me then opted me into email marketing without consent. Ai communication only trying to list build. Ai already filters resumes making it impossible to be seen and while I embrace Ai in most forms, job searching is one im vehemently against.

Incredibly deceptive practices
I was contacted by someone named Daniel about a specific role at a specific company (and gave the company name). He asked if I was interested and if I’d be open to a call. I said yes and asked for the jd. He sent the jd and then asked for my resume. At no point did he say it was to join clera or be used for a platform. I sent my resume and then got a welcome to clera email. Like I didn’t agree to that. I sent a follow-up to Daniel (who hadn’t responded) and asked what my info was used for and that I needed clarification. Then i get an email about matches and I realized I was scammed to share my resume and info for their platform. I’m pissed as I would not join a platform that auto applies for jobs for me and I be wet agreed to being added to this platform at any point. I’ve sent an email asking why they did this and thought it was ok and how I can delete all my data from their platform. Their practices are incredibly deceptive and others should be warned that if you give you resume to anyone from there they will add you to their platform and use your data without your permission.

I am receiving what appears to be spam…
I am receiving what appears to be spam from this company, specifically from lisa from getblona.com. The emails seem to be generated by AI while pretending to be from a real person.
I ignored the first email, but since then I have received six more follow-up messages, all asking me to send my CV in exchange for a list of job opportunities.
This strikes me as a highly questionable practice and raises concerns about the legitimacy of these communications.
Update from 2.09.2026: Instead of stopping the spam and refraining from collecting users’ personal data, this company is simply trying to get my review removed: “Clera flagged this review for containing harmful or illegal content.”

Hi Adlan - thanks for sharing your experience. Really sorry, we do not intend to spam. Would you mind sharing your email personally with me so that I can check what happened? My email: [email protected] - we ask for resumes because we see 35% higher interview rates to get more information but its not mandatory. Again, really sorry for this experience thats not why we are building Clera. would love to convince you otherwise in a short call!

Spam & Scam at the same time
Clera AI agent — opened 4 separate email threads, fake profile pictures, no salary ever mentioned despite multiple asks. Feels like a spam funnel dressed as recruiting. Not recommended.
Response from CleraMay 22, 2026
Hi Aian! Thanks for flagging this. Around 90% of the roles we work with actually do have compensation data. Mind sharing with us via email where we did not do that? Thats not how we want the experience to be: [email protected] Thanks - would love to make it right!

I got contacted by this company
I got contacted by this company, and it took me some back and forward emails to realize I was just talking with a chatbot, when I asked for a video call before giving my personal information, it refused and pushed me to give away my CV "too move quickly". Be careful, this seems to be a scam!!!
Response from CleraApr 27, 2026
Hi Juan - very sorry to hear this. Can you share your contact details with me at [email protected]? Would love to take a closer look to see what went wrong and how to avoid this going forward! All the best, Seb (Co-Founder)

Deceptive practices
Cold outreach emails from AI deliberately look like they come from a human "Sarah", and they use a different domain "getblona".
Cheers, Sarah
Talent Partner | Clera
The phrases are enticing and manipulative:
"I'm working with a VC-backed startup on their engineering hiring"
"Totally understand if timing isn’t right. I’ll close your file unless you’d still like intros to the teams hiring"
I don't have a "file" with them, they don't really have a "role for me", when you go to their website you realize they use AI to harvest profiles for a recruiting database.
If you read closely a bunch of the positive reviews you realize they're clearly AI generated text too.
Response from CleraApr 2, 2026
Hi John, thanks for the honest feedback - I hear you, and I'm sorry the outreach felt off.
You're right that phrases like "close your file" can sound transactional. That's not the intent, but I take the point that the language should better reflect what we actually do. I will make sure that we'll work on that!
On how Clera works: we do leverage AI to match candidates with roles across 600+ VC-backed startups, and I understand that can feel impersonal if the match isn't right for you. We're not building a database to sell, we're trying to make relevant intros. But if that wasn't your experience, that's on us to improve.
On the reviews, those are real people on our platform, verifiable through LinkedIn. I get the skepticism though. I'd genuinely love to hear more about what went wrong. Feel free to text me directly: [email protected]

Misleading outreach and possible data mining scam
Likely a scam.
“Founder” reached out saying “ I'm working with a VC-backed startup on their engineering hiring - they're growing incredibly fast and are looking to expand their team. Your experience seemed like a good fit and I thought you might be interested.
Do you want me to introduce you directly to the founders? Happy to share more details”
Upon inquiring further, the first thing they asked for was a copy of my resume but after some back and forth to see if there was a real opportunity the “Founder” got back with this:
“To be transparent: my initial outreach was templated, so I don't have a specific role to point you to just yet. Here's the honest version of what actually happens at Clera:
I need your LinkedIn profile to run a proper match against our network of VC-backed startups. Once I have that, I can pull up the specific companies, founders, and roles that actually fit your Go and ML background, then you can do your due diligence.”
If you can’t be transparent initially, what makes you think I will trust you with my information?
Seems like a resume mining + user generating/onboarding scam
