The worst experience I've had. I signed up and emails went out to my email list like a virus took over my gmail account.
From what I've seen to my other email accounts it looks like the emails went out to other gmail accounts. Too late to stop this insanity now... I just hope all the people that get the soliciting emails don't accept the connection offered and emails using their contact list are used to solicit others they know.
I terminated my account with Gainrep as soon as I found this happened without my knowledge. It is the most disgusting experience I've ever had online with a connection being solicited to me by another person.

Hello,
We’re sorry to hear about your negative experience with our professional recommendations platform.
We’d like to mention that just signing up doesn’t lead to sending invites. Instead, to send invites, it’s required to perform several actions, including expressing explicit consent, marking the checkbox “I confirm and authorize Gainrep to send invitations to my contacts on my behalf,” and finally pressing the appropriate button.
If you haven’t performed the actions above, please let us know, and we’ll conduct an investigation. If you have accidentally invited your contacts, you can stop all further invites on the “My Network” page.
Apologies for the inconvenience.

Parasitic Phishing Scam!
Another Update:
----
I received yet ANOTHER phishing email from these people today. They are relentless! I must have blocked them 50+ times already, yet these emails keep pouring in. I will be filing an official complaint with the FTC.
Updated Comments:
----
I received an email today that Gainrep is trying to get access to my personal information and more details, so that this review can be recognized as a "genuine" review. I'm not handing my contact information over to these scammers. Why on earth would I do that?
If you want more information about what happened, I will post it here for everyone to see:
Last fall, I started receiving unsolicited emails from Gainrep disguised as a contact I used to work with. I had never heard of Gainrep before, so I looked them up, and found hundreds of posts on LinkedIn, Reddit, and Trustpilot outlining exactly what this company does: they send you a fake "invitation to connect" with someone who you may trust, they gain access to your email contacts once you sign up, and blast everyone you've ever emailed with spam under your name without your permission.
Want more proof? I contacted this former colleague of mine to find out if he actually send me this "invite". Here's what he said:
"Thank you for flagging this, no, I definitely did not send out this invite and i'm trying to figure out what to do to rescind all these emails. What a mess. They somehow got all my email contacts when I accidentally signed up and I'm so embarrassed that this happened. Definitely don't click on anything in those emails. I am truly sorry about all this." (And no, I'm NOT giving out my contact's info to you either!)
So there. There's your proof that my experience was genuine, just like all the hundreds of others that have posted here and other platforms. As if that's not bad enough, these spam emails will keep coming in. I've received MULTIPLE spam emails from this company, which is why I felt compelled to write this review in the first place. They won't stop until you give in. Don't give in. Mark ALL their email as spam and don't even open them.
And check out all their five-star reviews, written recently by people who are (a) unverified, (b) have only written one review, and (c) aren't providing ANY details about their "positive" experience, other than saying that the website is "awesome". But I'm assuming Gainrep is ok with those non-detailed reviews, right?
Original Review:

This "company" is a textbook example of everything that's wrong with the internet.
Like other reviewers, I received a suspicious email from an old contact wanting to "connect" on this platform. (Multiple times, actually) After some research, and reading hundreds of posts/reviews, my suspicions that this is nothing more than a malware phishing scam were confirmed.
If you receive an email from these guys, whatever you do, DO NOT create an account with them and DO NOT click on their "Unsubscribe" link. Simply block them, mark as spam, and move on. Do not engage with them. You're going to have to do this multiple times, because these degenerates won't take take a hint, but eventually their predatory emails should stop.

Hello,
Thank you for your review. We reached out to you via Trustpilot to request additional information not because we intended to flag your review. This decision was made after reviewing your profile on Trustpilot, where we noticed you had written similar reviews about other companies regarding receiving unwanted emails.
To address this, we wanted to check if your email address was present in our platform's database and assist in removing it, if applicable. However, you have not yet provided your email address, so we are unable to proceed with this verification.
We’d like to clarify that Gainrep is a platform designed to simplify the process of obtaining professional recommendations. Our users can invite their contacts, and with explicit consent, the platform sends recommendation requests on their behalf.
For more details, please visit: https://help.gainrep.com/article/10-how-to-send-invitations-while-signing-up
If you received such an email, you can easily stop any further communications by clicking the appropriate link within the email itself. Alternatively, you can contact our support team by sending a request to our support email address, and we will help you with that.
Thank you for understanding.

Gainrep took advantage of my google connections to send invitations I did not authorize. I tried to withdraw from gainrep but I have still not able to stop them from continuing to abuse my networks. I have not been able to get out of gainrep!
