Nadeau Furniture With A Soul
The staff, especially True James, seem helpful and competent. A lot of the furniture is attractive. My beef is the senior management’s decision NOT to honor a refund or exchange on a similarly priced product that the local store offered. I thought I had termites in my home because I was seeing small piles of sawdust(powder post beetles) on the floor beneath a cabinet I purchased from Nadeau…3.5 years ago. I used the cabinet for storage under my TV. I had 2 different termite professionals come to my home and was told not termites but powder post beetles. I did not open the doors on the cabinet often because it was for storage not everyday use. The amount of powder from the beetles was sooo much that it had started falling out of the holes the beetles had eaten and the cracks in the door of the cabinet…which is when I began to notice. I personally found it very odd that this could happen maybe 2-3 years later but was told by the local store and the Internet that the eggs last a long time and only hatch with just the right conditions. The store personnel explained that all furniture is supposed to be thoroughly inspected before being sold. And that while not commonplace, powder post beetle infestation has been an issue with some of Nadeau’s furniture. The company has no invoice and they will not honor a refund or exchange. They know the SKU #, that this particular unit was sold but because they don’t have the invoice to prove that I paid for it, they won’t work with me. I even returned the cabinet to the store and the new manager said she was told to bring it inside but that she will not. Doesn’t want to possibly infest the other in store furniture. I have lots of photos and submitted them to both the store and Nadeau Customer Service. I found one receipt from Nadeau for $227 and submitted it but they said it was a void transaction. Perhaps I put a down payment on it and then paid cash? While I usually use AMEX for all my purchases, I was moving into a new home (downsizing) at the time and was selling off some furniture so I probably did offer to pay for new furniture in cash? I could really care less about the money now, it’s the principle. It is clearly their furniture but because the only receipt I can provide appears to them be as a voided transaction they won’t do ANYTHING, NOTHING. I agree 2-3 years is a long time after purchase, but according to the store and the internet(and other similar Nadeau reviews online) the powder post beetle eggs don’t hatch based on when one purchases the product. If not remediated before the furniture is sold, Nature takes its course and the customer is left with a mess, a useless piece of furniture and a now that it has been removed from my home, I have to go out and purchase a similar piece…probably $500 to $1000?!
