Overpriced scammy garbage that smells awful
Horrific, nauseating scent and awful customer service. Overpriced garbage. Not a full-on scam but definitely scam-adjacent! I ordered mine with a scent specifically because the FAQs explicitly said all scents were "very subtle". Instead, everyone who walked through our door immediately complained of a headache. It also smelled NOTHING like the description (sandalwood and jasmine) - it smelled like the cheapest laundry detergent imaginable. I tossed the packaging immediately, so rather than attempt a return, I bagged it and put it in the garage, hoping to give it away or try it again in a larger home someday. Even the SEALED bag in the GARAGE was so overpowering that it made the house smell like it and gave everyone headaches. I became so nauseated by it that, in desperation, I finally threw it in the outside trash. When I was literally crying to my husband about how expensive it was, he pointed out that a decent company would surely refund the pearled-wax-portion of my purchase (I ordered a BUNCH of other stuff) or send a replacement bag of pearled wax as a one-time fix. I contacted the company requesting either of those and was essentially told, “Too bad - you should have contacted us immediately and returned the pearls in a sellable state”. Yes, it's true that their FAQs say that returns must be "resellable". Even with packaging, it wouldn't have been resellable, since I had tried it thinking the smell would dissipate, so that's a completely ridiculous requirement for a return to begin with! (And - even if I'd met it - gotta pay return shipping!!!) Moreover, a decent company stands by their products and supports their customers by assisting in circumstances like these. They also told me that a scent which "gives one person a headache another person can't even notice" which I feel is very misleading. Whether people like scents is definitely subjective (and a great reason to not charge $4 for ONE scent sample!) but I would bet an actual million dollars that every single person in the world would have called that scent VERY STRONG. And to say that the scent itself was subjective .... well - I guess some people like the smell of gasoline or skunk-spray but I don't think that makes it "subjective" to have a few outliers. I cannot imagine that 99.9999999% would like this smell. This product wasn't just bad: it was VILE, completely misrepresented on the website (NOT subtle! NOT sandalwood or jasmine!), and the customer service was embarrassing.
