Bait and switch
Bait and switch. After ordering a server and waiting hours with no replies to my status tickets, I finally received a response 8 hours later. They claimed they had just sold my server 'a couple of hours ago' and wanted me to pay $100 more for a different one. As I type this, they are haggling and asking for $60 more instead. It's not happening. Now I have to wait until Monday to see if my refund actually processes. Wasting my time with used-car sales tactics is inexcusable.
Response from EPY HostSep 20, 2026
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We sincerely apologize for the frustration you experienced regarding your recent server order. To clarify our process, standard server provisioning at EPY HOST takes 24-48 hours. While our Technical Support operates 24/7, our Sales and Billing departments operate Monday through Friday during regular business hours. Because your ticket was opened over the weekend, there was a delay in our response. Unfortunately, just a few hours before your order was processed, the specific hardware configuration you requested went out of stock at our data center. We strictly do not engage in "bait and switch" tactics. When an item is out of stock, our standard procedure is to offer two options: a full refund, or an alternative, higher-spec server. We offered you the higher-tier server with a courtesy discount to help get you online faster, but we completely understand why you chose to decline it. As you opted for the second option—a refund—please be assured that your request has been queued. Since your payment was made via Cryptocurrency, it requires manual processing by our Billing team, which will be completed promptly on Monday when they return to the office. We appreciate your patience and apologize again that we couldn't meet your expectations this time. Best regards, The EPY HOST Team
