"Bad experience" would be overselling it
Would not recommend them to save my life. While it may seem like every entrepreneur's dream come true, I found the company to be incredibly toxic, inside and out. Looking past the null work-life balance they portray as "company culture" - you gotta do weekends too, in addition to 50+ hours weekly and yet, some of the engineers I met there during the interviews were so skilled, not just technically, but also their soft skill levels were high, they provided constructive feedback during the coding / system design interview and the interviewing seemed to take a turn for the better. Then, I had the misfortune of running into a rude, arrogant and quite unpleasant "technical" interviewer who, contrary to what I'd been told in writing (they said it'd consist of questions around my experience and skills), ran me through yet another system design interview. The "engineer" has proven to be incredibly square and just completely disconnected from the modern and efficient trends of software engineering. I guess this must be the result of over-inflated egos given by undeserved pompous titles, paired with not enough sleeping hours. After uselessly focusing on nitpicking minor details I did not know, and completely ignoring the bigger picture, the individual did not even allow me to explain my design choices, nor did they bother giving me a constructive feedback. It just felt like they were set to find reasons to get rid of you. Very unprofessional. But here's a tip for that individual: next time you show up late for a previously scheduled call, a "sorry I'm late" line costs you nothing, yet, trust me, you could stand to gain a lot from it! Acting like a human being is so cheap, it's silly when we don't. There are chatbots we could all take a page from their books when it comes to communication skills. And yet, here we are.
